Someone with more knowledge on kraken, explain to me why I can't trade btc futures? Looks like you can't do fractionals or purchase per USD and it only uses margin.

Kraken Derivatives US allows futures trading of CME contracts for US clients. Kraken Pro Futures is available only to non-US users.
But I wouldn’t use Kraken or Coinbase futures period, due to lack of liquidity. Find an actual futures trading platform: Bitunix, Blofin, Bydfi, BTCC, KCEX, Phemex, Weex.

@Koichos what do you think about Kaspa?

Long term play? it's not even on most exchanges yet
It’s a name I’ve heard but not a project I’m familiar with. Just be careful holding alts, especially those who have yet to perform through multiple cycles. So.. most of em

So it's limited to "non-us" citizens?

No, US citizens are permitted to use Kraken Derivatives US (CME contracts that expire, similar to options) but not Kraken Pro Futures (which offers non-expiry perpetuals). When people talk about trading crypto ‘futures’ they are talking about perpetuals. Adding a time crunch (expirations) to an already risky practice (leverage) is not a good idea.

But, if that’s what you want, https://pro.kraken.com/app/trade/fcm-futures-btcx5-cme will take you there. You need Intermediate verification level and not be located in NY.

Yeah. I’ve been trading futures since 2018. I use Bitunix, mostly, but also have an account with Blofin, Bydfi and Weex.

One of the annoyances I see with crytpo is all the fukking accounts to make. Phantom, ledger, coinbase, kraken, koinly, etc. So many places to go to trade.

It can become pretty overwhelming for sure, especially if you’re into memes and other small caps which might lead to connecting your wallet to some sketchy platforms. But, personally, I stick with what has worked for me: BTC and ETH both on spot and futures. Kraken Pro and Coinbase for spot/fiat off-ramp; Bitunix, Blofin or Bydfi for futures.

Coldcard for bitcoin.
Trezor for ethereum.

Never leave crypto on an exchange unless its being actively traded.
