I don't really remember people clowing Canelo for taking the Bivol fight?

I shyt on Canelo a lot, but most, if not all people were saying it was a difficult fight.

The only knock at the time was that he may have been sliding off from Benavidez. Which is entirely legit.

the main knock was we wanted Canelo to take the PBC deal nobody really wanted to see Bivol and GGG 3

Anybody who thought Bivol was a cherry pick unfortunately don't know boxing, he was a legit champion and either the best or 2nd best in his division with Beterbiev, he was never no weak champion, highly skilled fighter.
Canelo still took the fight because he thought it was easier than facing Benavidez..

Bivol looked like shyt in those fights after he was elevated. Even more so after Dadashev passed so anyone picking Canelo was justified by his previous fights against Richards and Salamov.
Bivol is a winner..very odd mindset considering Canelo basically lost to one dimensional GGG and the smaller Lara.

if he can keep beterbiev in the middle of the ring he will outbox him. thats a tough task to do for 12 rounds though vs the beast. :wow:
Bivol would be facing who can legit give him some real problems...I also think if Bivol sat down on his punches he can give Beterbiev problems. Even with educated feet like he has its going to be a tall order to move against Beterbiev like that for 12 rounds without feeling that power

It's the path of less resistance. A cherry pick doesn't always mean the fighter is trash. It's the fight you took to avoid the tougher road.

The PBC deal he turned down was not only worth more but pitted him against tougher opponents.

And Let's not sit here and pretend He wasn't a -550 point favorite to beat Bivol

Everyone picked Canelo to win but me and I think Andre Ward. Nuff said. Alot of cap in how it was in May from the naysayers giving Bivol props these days....

Bivol is an elite Lightheavyweight, there's no way the PBC fights they proposed at a lower weight were tougher. Canelo lost because of the weight/size and skill of Bivol. The odds don't matter, at that time Canelo would have been favourite against anyone.

To Canelo it was. He's still doing excuses in interviews over the mention of Benavidez and they had $55 mil for him. So he clearly thought Bivol was easier because he didn't do his research. Comical really.
