LOL. Word.

For all the "its a math problem" people, they need to calculate real wages from 30-50 years ago...adjust for inflation and figure out what it is now, versus what it should be compared to how the average worker was incorporated into the economy in generations past.

At some point the American economy will acknowledge reality (that Reagaonomics was a harmful handout to the rich) and start including its workers into some semblance of distribution of profits and revenue. For the past 30 years our economy has been all about wage suppression, first, second, and last on the agenda and the results have been devastating for the middle class and under.

Even moderately conservative economists are concerned about the trajectories of an economy where 95% of the economic gains continue to go to the top 1% year after year...we cant sustain ourselves like this. Thats fukkin insanity!!!!

Businesses fail because of a lack of an overall lack of demand...not because they have to pay their workers a few extra bucks. They're just hoarding profits there...Businesses are concerned about a lack of consumptive power and activity from the actors in their community which is the driver of an economy..

When historians and academics look back at this generation and wonder how people could accept such dramatic and prolonged wage inequality, they'll probably pin point a stockholm syndrome/self loathing psychology as the culprit (look how so many top economies around the world have free health care and reasonable wage inequality)...We are hypnotized by the rich in America and have bought their propaganda that we are beneath them and a bane of their existence. We should take whatever they want to give us, and not say a word.

Think of our economy like hip hop where rappers taunt and belittle the listeners and brag about a life the fan will never live, and how they will always take our bytch at their leisure...its a relationship of sadomasochism. Thats a macro version of the American economy.

Dont even consider leveraging our labor, effort, and contributions to insure the best for our family. Thats "unamerican". We dont have an economy based on logic...its based on punishment and centered on class, race, gender. Instead of the S&P it should be the S&N...sadists and narcissists.

Going back to the stockholm syndrome angle....the historians will ultimately conclude that like submissive societies before us, we were complicit in the culture where we enforced our own enslavement. Everyday you see middle and working class conservatives doing the bidding for the 1% and their interests...nonsensically fighting their battles. Assuming their rhetoric...The slavemaster doesnt have to lift a finger. We as a society do all the work for him.
Don't worry, your time to be rich will come.. Just keep working that 9-5 so your manager can get that huge quarterly bonus and the CEO can finally get that 250ft yatch with that heli pad :mjlol:

The state of the economy is disgusting.. The gap in wealth and income increase over the past 2 decades between the rich and poor is absurd... And all the cash is just being fukking hoarded, not being pumped back into the economy... It's like a dikk measuring contest between the super rich as to who can hoard the most cash/liquid assets... But mofos don't care, as long as they got their iPhones/internet/TV shows.. It's all good.. Keeping the masses occupied with balls of yarn while they continue to get fukked :wow:

I don't wanna be around for breaking point of this mess.. Its not gonna be pretty :wow:

I agree with your post, but going after small business owners, which this law will do, isn't addressing the problem. These small business owners aren't becoming multi-millionaires running these shops. What industry is making a killing in our economy and how is that affecting the cost of living. I'm not an economist, but I can see that raising minimum wage is not the answer.

Either cost if living has to go down or wages have to go up. And we all know damn well which one isn't happening anytime soon.

The wage disparity between fast food/retail CEOs salary and employees is unreasonable given the profits they're earning. "it takes the typical worker at both McDonald's and Starbucks more than six months to earn what each company's CEO makes in a single hour"
Can't justify that idc what MBA they have.

They'll use any excuse to be cheapskates and avoid paying their employees decent wages. The minimum wage nationwide should've been over $20 if it kept up with worker productivity over the years:

Even $15 is hard to live on each month, especially when you live somewhere like the Bay where rent is sky-high and where they've been talking about jacking up water bill prices.

Peoples intolerance and lack of compassion is truly disgusting….Love @No_bammer_weed's post and axiom, I'm not going to reiterate what you have put much more eloquently then I likely could, but I agree 100%….I love this quote, I hit my friend with it the other day, we got into an argument about tipping the valet at a hotel in San Francisco, I said I was beginning to be anti tipping, not because I am a selfish, greedy fukk like Mr. Pink….but because these companies can afford to pay their employees WAY more, Hotel Nikko is an international hotel chain, why in the fukk can't their valet and staff make a decent wage? And why do I care about subsidizing, and assiitng corporate greed and the shareholders profits? I tip to help the people, because I am passionate about giving when you can….but the system is fukked. So, short story long, I say to my boy, as he's defending these predatory capitalism business practices with all his heart, "This is what they mean when it's said that every American thinks they are a temporarily embarrassed millionaire". I see a lot of that in my personal life, and in this thread.

Look here young buck...maybe those people should learn to pick themselves up by their bootstraps :smugsterling:

Just look at people like Mitt Romney...came up from nothing with a little bit of hardwork, elbow grease and that good old American entrepreneurial spirit
And now, he gets to play with his car elevator every day!

Maybe it's just me but I don't believe minimum wage should be $15. I believe you adapt to the climate, I mean this is happening to nikkas, ain't it? Gentrification ran black folks out of Brooklyn and Harlem because the cost of living is going up but the wages are the same. Should they raise minimum wage in NYC for them? They didn't causing many NYC folks to move South for better opportunities with lower cost of living.

How come Seattle folks can't move somewhere else in Washington or move to Portland or Vancouver, maybe Idaho or Montana.

Maybe the issue is racial. When it's black folks who can't afford the cost of living, like in NYC, then it's "Screw u nikkas, move." But when it's white folks in Seattle they be like :"Increase the wage so they can afford to live here."
Andrew Cuomo is proposing a wage increase to $11.50, the minimum wage already is going to increase to $9.00 by the end of the year.
What you're complaining about isn't a "race" issue, its a governmental issue, the Seattle government is willing to continually propose minimum wage increases, the New York government isn't quite as up-and-arms about it.
You shouldn't have to move from where you live, just so you can survive.

This is going to go down just like all those people who said Obamacare was going to crush the economy and ruin tons of businesses.

So much crow will be eaten....

Not sure if they realize but people having more money in the area means more people to go to their restaurants...
Owners closing businesses and people losing their jobs will take money out of the area................

my point stands. If you have a job you should have a wage you can live on. You seem to think this is ok which goes on to why I said we as a society are brain washed in a way. Just because a job isn't prestigious it doesn't mean it shouldn't cover your needs.

Anyways......Why u think its ok for people to struggle is beyond me. I don't care for your opinion. Dueces!

There is no a way a person with a penis wrote this.

I really have no sympathy for a grown adult working fast food, unless you're mentally disabled or something.

Those people are loser status to me:francis:

Define family though.

I make more than a fast food employee and more than this $15 min wage...and one reason I'm terrified of having kids is the $ investment.

If you're only working a basic ass job you shouldn't have a large family to provide for. It's not McDonald's fault if you have 3 children and can't feed them all off your min wage job. I've had employees who are trying to support 4+ children when they make under $10/hr. WTF part of the game is that? At some point you have to put part of the blame on the person for creating their own helpless situation.

A lot of people's money would go further if they were more responsible with it, and I'm not trying to be condescending at all because I fall into the same traps a lot of people do. I just take more accountability for my actions than some others choose to do. Raising min wage isn't going to solve everything if people take that higher wage and behave irresponsibly with it.

We need to do a better job educating people and preparing them for being adults.
some people can't provide for just themselves with a lot of jobs so the family size is irrelevant if it's not enough for one person to live off of.
