I look at it as kinda like wrestling w/two peak periods and a trough in between

-'81 to 03 w/The OG Lakers vs Celtics, :mjpls: , Shaq/Kobe Lakers ... A lot of Zoomers might be surprised that the NBA mightve credibly been the top US league from like 94-00

- Fell off from 04-07 like the wrestling biz did from 93-96

- 07 to 16 w/LeBron coming into his prime , revived Lakers Celtics beef, LeBron vs Boston, the '16 playoffs were one of the best ever, and the league still had a good mic of stretch and traditional bits and 3 point sharpshooters without the death of mid range game

The game was perfectly balanced between Bigs vs. perimeter players.

At the time, the narrative was that it was a horrible era for bigs. People used to say that Dwight was the only elite center left in the league. Chris Kamen made an all-star game and Joakim Noah was 1st-team All-NBA.

07-16 is spot on. 2007 playoffs was amazing. Capping off with the all time great 2016 NBA finals. The Spurs, Lakers, Celtics, Heat & Warriors being stand out teams. Kobe’s 2 championship runs, LeBron’s dominance, KD and Steph Curry’s emergence. All the other young stars like Kyrie, DRose, DDolla, Harden, JBuckets, PG13 were fun to watch every night. Only thing missing was the parity we have today.

Center position fell off those years but let's not forget about Yao and Cousins either. Or Pau and Marc Gasol for that matter. Too bad Bynum and Oden were always injured. And Joakim Noah is wildly disrespected for a guy who ended up 4th in MVP votings and won a DPOY. But anyway there were a whole lot of quality PFs. KG, Duncan, C-Webb, Dirk, Bosh, Blake Griffin, LMA, Zach Randolph. David West. Boozer. Elton Brand, Millsap, Scola at a level below. Amare before the injuries. All quality bigs who for the majority mostly played in the paint.
