I just said this exact thing in the Magic thread. This is just like The Bucks adding Gary Neal, Zaza Pachulia, and OJ Mayo last year. It's not enough to win, so why waste the cap space and take minutes from the young players?

My only theory is that they're now trying to make the playoffs and so they're trying to add a "veteran presence" to help them.

the Magic had a veteran presence, but they traded him for cap space...... so they could overpay Channing Frye and Ben Gordon.

Yes it does. MLE is just there for teams with limited cap space to use but it's just like any other contract.

Guess Magic think they have a young nucleus with Oladipo, Peyton, Gordon, Vucci Mane, Harkless, Harris, Fournier, & Nicholson with veteran players that could make the playoffs in the weak Eastern Conference? They have too many young assets, seems like they might be looking to make a big trade? No clue what they are doing. They are going into year 3 of rebuilding now, seems like they want to try to be competitive, get one more bluechip talent in 2015 and go from there.
