OKC have $5m in spending room, below the tax line. Finding a suitor for Perk or amnestying him (which isn't likely) and they'll have enough to get Pau. Gasol knows he ain't getting $10-12m from Chicago, OKC or Miami. If Chicago manage to land Melo - OKC will be able to offer Gasol the most out of all the contenders.

LA's about the only team that can offer him what he wants, out of the franchises that have a realistic chance at signing him.

They might have the MLE, but they can't offer more than the veteran's minimum if they're already over the cap. They aren't at the luxury tax yet, but at $68 million, they could only offer big deals to their own free agents. They have to clear a lot of space if they want to realistically sign Pau.

Maybe LA will do him a solid since he is leaving and help him and themselves out. Kinda like how Thunder did with Martin last year. Do a sign and trade... Thunder get Pau/ Lakers get trade exception and say a 1st rnd pic 2015. Really do the Thunder need any more youngsters ... let the draft pic go.
