i see what your saying, but dont think its as complicated as you trying to make it out to be...he doesnt have to be a shut down defensive guy just make the key stops and clean up the boards....boris diaw is a perfect example of this, a bad defensive player who can be reformed......

He's saying diaw was never that good on defense. He improved as his team improved. He's saying why can't love do the same?

But he's not acknowledging that Diaw has a perrinial all defense 1st team member behind him to protect the basket and make it easier for him to defend. Love won't have that luxury with the Cavs. Even when he was playing on the U.S. team with a good group of defenders he had trouble stopping anybody.

Diaw improved because he's playing next to an all-time great paint defender.


The Cavs need to press for Gorgui Dieng in the trade for Love, he has all the hallmarks of a potential elite interior defender.

If I remember correctly, when chandler was having trouble vs spain against the gasols, love was the only big doing a good job stopping them.
