what would the wizards give the cavs if they pick up deng u think?
no. the nba draft ain't like the nfl where you can find gems in later rounds. all the elite players in the league were high first round picks (most in the top 5-10). most productive players are also first round picks. even with the best scouting department there are only 2-3 guys each year in the second round that'll be something more than 12th men on the end of the bench.
just look at the second rounds of the last couple of drafts. maybe one or two names each years are guys that are worthy of beings "assets". everyone else is just another name that teams recycle.
Ernie Grunfeld is an idiot. He could have drafted Deng in 2004 instead of trading the 5th pick (Devin Harris) for Antawn Jamison on a max contractBesides, we can sign Deng this offseason if they really want him THAT bad...
Ariza is giving the Wizards better production from 3 point land and also averaging 2 steals. Deng is an expiring just as Ariza is.
The SF position is not a weakness in Washington. Backup PG and PF is the problem. Nene should come off the bench and play against 2nd units to raise his efficiency IMO.
So with your dumb ass logic @Swagnificent why have a 2nd round in the draft then? Just make it one round and 30 picks. I see why you've got that WOAT tag under your name.
Paul Millsap, even Andray Blatche, Kyle Korver, Draymond Green, Jae Crowder, Dejuan Blair, Scola, Mo Williams, Gortat, M. Gasol, Varejao, Marcus Thornton...
I did not say that you can find elite players in the second round. I'm not saying those who are getting drafted in the 2nd round are going to be elite players. I'm saying that if you draft well, you have a chance of securing someone who can potentially contribute to your team for cheap.
Git r done
You realize the same shyt can be said for a lot of 1st round picks right? The difference is... those guys get more opportunities because if they bust GMs/coaches lose their jobs. Go back and look at some of the previous drafts. There are plenty of 1st rounders that are bench players that can't get any PT.bodies at the end of the bench. most NBA teams keep 12 guys on the active roster.
just look at the 2010 draft. For every Lance Stephenson you can get in the 2nd round, there are 28 guys already outta the league. I mean seriously I just looked at that year cause it was only 4 years ago and you'd think after 4 years the players would have time to develop and of the 30 second round picks, the only I guys I think are STILL IN THE LEAGUE are Stephenson and Landry Fields. That is why I say 2nd round picks are worthless. Its like playing the lottery.
Philly would be better served trading their guys who have shown ability to play in this league than for second round picks.
2012 draft 2nd rounders
Mike Scott, Draymond Green, Jeff Taylor, Quincy Miller, Khris Middleton
All of these guys getting minutes, or in Miller and Middleton's case showing signs of being really good players.
And even a promising player like Nate Wolters in last years awful draft, dude makes some bad arguments.
