I didn't hear Obama use the word criminal, authoritarian, fascist, or anything really even close to that which could be construed as a "pure attack". The only times he directly addressed or referenced Trump were to say:
So his criticism of Trump is basically that he is lazy and narcissistic. Which is very standard, tepid mainstream Democratic fare over the past 4 years.
And I didn't really see any stark warning in his speech either. I think the only thing he said about what's at stake is:
Which is a very nebulous platitude.
The best, most enlivening moments of the speech were when he glanced at the underlying rot endemic to the entire American project by detailing the injustices and brutalities faced by marginalized people across the history of this nation, but he couldn't go the whole way with that sentiment and complete the circle because his history and ideology won't allow him to make a comprehensive and fully-righteous condemnation of the status quo.
I don't know, a lot of the exuberant reactions I'm seeing in response to this speech reminds me of Drake stans hyping up his weak diss tracks during the Pusha beef.
