IF she beats out Taylor Swift for Album Of The Year, something not even Kendrick Lamar could accomplish, then SZA will immediately become the hottest black artist on the planet. The biggest since The Weeknd

i feel like she already is aside from kendrick

cuz in the end.... it always...

I know the "streets" gave Gunna a hard time with the snitching talks but he dropped a fantastic album, did well on the Billboard charts with 'fukumean', and one of the few young hip-hop acts that can successfully tour.

I dont know who actually votes on the grammy committee tho

Grammy committee is historically whiter, older, and male. But they’ve tried to make inroads for more diverse members and voters over the years and some sources say that they Rap categories have mostly been ceded to a few gatekeepers who are actually in the genre, people like 9th Wonder for instance. So whoever was voting this go round didn’t want to see Gunna nominated over other, less “radioactive”’mainstream acts like Drake and Travis. Gunna probably JUST missed the cut under those two. Metro was going to get in by virtue of him also getting a Producer Of The Year Nom and Nas & Killer Mike are the respected lyrical stalwarts they usually add in for authenticity

I agree that Gunna should have gotten a nomination. Really good album and it's sold very well. End of the day though it's still the Grammys...they're always going to overlook some rap shyt.

Hit Boy should win Producer of the year, but I think Jack Antonoff is going to get the three peat

To win in the General Field you typically need a substantive amount of support from your genre plus a bit of support in other fields. Hit would already be splitting Hip Hop votes with Metro Boomin so that counts against him. He’d presumably have R&B voters support as he produced an album for Musiq Soulchild this year and had a big hand in Beyonce’s Renaissance album last year but that might not be enough to beat out Jack Antonoff, whose written for damn near every white person across every genre including this year’s AOTY and Song Of The Year favorite Taylor Swift. If Hit had been nominated last year when Beyonce was nominated for AOTY he would’ve had a better chance.

KD3 deserves it hands down, but I think Her Loss might take it because it

I’d be lowkey shocked if Drake won but then again Kanye West PISSED on a Grammy and won the very next year so stranger things have happened.

I think as of right now Metro Boomin actually has the argument for being the front runner as he’s the only one also nominated in a General Field category. If he pulls off an upset and wins Producer Of The Year then he’ll definitely win Best Rap Album. Following Metro is Travis simply because of sales and popularity (remember, the biggest selling album in this category has won TWENTY TIMES out of twenty eight years) then Nas because he’s a previous winner and KD3 is the highest acclaimed album of all the nominees. Then i’d say Drake & 21 because even though Drake has been dissing the Grammys they still gave the album 4 nominations across all the rap categories. Lastly would be Killer Mike, who managed to surprise with 3 nominations across the 4 rap categories.

I think Killer Mike has a chance to pull off one of the wins considering he was nominated in 3 categories
