Plug chick who works for Nas was on Station head saying that Metro is the front runner for Best Rap Album and that his FYC video was one of the best she’s ever seen. She said Morgan Freeman narrated it lol.

Kendrick probably winning all these awards hes nominated for, as it should since his album is still the best (objectively speaking) piece of music since its dropped.

with that being said, this is the first time in a very long time that there's no rap album nominated @ best albums and best songs

which isn't very surprising since no real good rap album dropped this year (objectively speaking, again...not saying I didn't like anything, but we have yet to hear a "very good" album this year)

There haven’t been many good pop albums either but we lowered the standard for them back when Swift first won.

Its the first time in 19 years that no rap album has been nominated for AOTY.

Kings Disease 3 and Michael both deserved AOTY candidacy but Nas didn’t even submit in the General Field and they snubbed Michael.

Also strictly from a sales and impact perspective Utopia should have gotten nominated. I thought the album was garbage personally but quality has almost NEVER been a factor in several albums being nominated for AOTY. The album spent a month at number 1 and by Grammy tradition thats enough.

well then that spins back to Morgan Wallen not getting nominated at all despite having the biggest single and album.

Thats surprising. Like you said, the length that it stayed at #1 should have been enough. I think the lack of a true hit song is what hurt it's, and other big Rap releases this year, chances. All of the talk about Uzi and Travis dropping their albums and now they're pretty much unforgettable.

damn ice spice got a song with t swift???????
Yes. That Taylor + Nicki stimulus package :whew:

Morgan Wallen’s case is different. There’s still the stench of scandal being attached to him for being a racist piece of shyt. The academy has already dealt with accusations of racism, misogyny, and corruption in recent years and doesnt want the negative press associated with Wallen. Plus despite the fact that he’s a huge seller, he’s “only” a Country artist and its easier to ignore Country as a genre than Pop. If Morgan was a straight Pop artist or Pop/Country hybrid like Taylor Swift and selling what he sold then he’d more than liely get a few genre category nominations in the least.

For Rap, Travis Scott has pretty much kept his nose clean since the Astroworld tragedy. Utopia was the biggest rap album of the year and it breaks ALL Grammy tradition for it to not be nominated, despite the middling reviews and the fact that its really not a good body of work. Killer Mike had plenty of acclaim and could have been nominated on merit alone ala Jon Baptiste, Black Pumas, and Jacob Collier in years past. Nas could have gotten in as the legend who put out a classic album finally getting his flowers ala Mary J Blige last year but we’ll never know if he ever stood a chance because he chose to NOT submit in the General Field. Metro Boomin also could have gotten a nomination as he’s up for Producer Of The Year and Heroes & Villains sold well and garnered a legit amount of acclaim.

The only album out of the Best Rap Album nominees that probably stood zero chance of an AOTY nom was Her Loss, because Drake has been publicly trashing the Grammys for years now.
