Whenever it became possible to live, work, vote and get government benefits without speaking English

so a seamstress from china working full-time at a dry cleaner shop and paying taxes shouldn't receive government benefits or be able to vote after being an american citizen if their english skills aren't to your standards? do you know how many illiterate native born americans there are?

Yes, a full time dry cleaner that pays taxes needs to learn English to run their shop and interact with customers and the government

The government should provide English classes for free for immigrants and native born people

And hell no, if you don't speak English you should definitely not be voting

I don't think we are disagreeing, but diversity can go both ways. For diversity to be a good thing there has to be a melting pot going on at the same time. People speaking a bunch of languages and not being able to communicate and being isolated into separate communities is not a melting pot. People coming to the us, live here for 20 years and cannot fill out a voting ballot or government forms in English is crazy. That's not the good side of diversity

Dude is bragging that NY has forms in 12 different languages, that is horrible

Look at Canada. A lot of people don't realize how close Canada was and is to breaking apart over language diversity, that's an example of what not to do in the US

There is no chance of that happening. American culture is ubiquitous. You have kids in the village in Sudan mimicking black culture. :heh:

The last thing that kids want is to be singled out as different so they learn to speak English very quickly and shed accents. By the second generation, English is the main language even at home.

Take it from an immigrant.

I'm sure they can, I'm just saying what my opinion is

In the big picture a Chinese seamstress in NY does not make the US better it just creates division and isolated communities unless there is also a push toward integration into one culture or language

If there are already free English classes there is no reason to have government forms in 12 different languages

things to notice is that 1) 12 languages is just performative for the sake of promoting "diversity" ie a waste of time and government resources 2) like most diversity initiatives it's only tangential or nothing to do with black people but yet black people are the face and the front line soldiers of said initiatives 3) 70 percent chance the Chinese seamstress is racist af

Yeah, overall the us and NY have done a good job of integration, the us should get props for that cuz most other countries can't do something like that

But let's analyze this diversity concept deeper, let's apply the "diversity is strength" theory, it follows that if the second generation does NOT speak English this will strengthen the US. Which imo is obviously bs and shows how diversity can be a bad thing. Cuz it will create a country of even more factions than there is now.

A lot of diversity stuff is bs, this effort under the guise of diversity of having 12 different language forms and letting people that don't speak English vote is counter to what the us has done good in the past

One of the best things trump has done is make English the official language of the us and deleted the Spanish version of the White House website. There is real movement to make Spanish a de facto official language which is a horrible idea and bad for the country for the reasons I have stated

Funny you should say this because I am in MIA this week and I believe I’ve heard more Spanish than English outside of my work related events. It’s not a big deal. :yeshrug:

It is a big deal if you're black and trying to get a job and do business in Miami

The same things happens in parts of CA, that's why I don't fuk with diversity initiatives unless it's some thing that directly helps black people

I'm working right now at a trillion dollar company in Silicon Valley, it's extremely diverse and racist af

why are you against christian nationalism but turn a blind eye to islamism that doesn’t integrate?
Christian Nationalism is a political program that seeks to remake the state/public in an explicitly Christian image, and therefore goes against my belief in religious plurality and equality.

I don't know what you mean by "turning a blind eye to islamism". If there was a Muslim politician that was running on turning the United States into an Islamic Nationalist society then I would regard them with the same perspective I regard Christian Nationalist. But these Islamic Nationalist politicians only exist in the minds of psychotic conservatives and Islamophobes such as yourself, so I don't give it any consideration. Whereas in reality, the Christian Nationalist agenda is alive and well.
