Jim stayed relevant with the current generation similar to 50 Cent.

Nas has always been more of a hermit even at his height. How would they know him honestly? He doesn’t have a huge hit song that gets played eternally.

I would understand if he was 30 but 22?:patrice:

How would he know about Jim Jones including Ed Hardys, he was damn near a baby when Ballin came out.

Sounds like he's repeating shyt he heard his older brothers/cousins say or some shyt

Theres been this psyop Im seeing online coming from older heads for a minute now that Jones is the most relevant of the older heads with the NY/NJ kids. People in the tri state would know best but I dont see it resonate from out of there and I dont know what cuts hes got that are making noise, which is more of a damnation of NYC.

Nas for a minute now has never had a mass amount of the youth as his listener base...and yet out of all the 90s rappers he probably has the most younger fans if that makes sense, just off the strength of Illmatic being a rite of passage and still making music with people like Ye and Hit Boy in recent years. Spicy was probably the closest to which he made noise on a regional level and maybe Wave Gods both cause of the features.
Whats been surprising to me is how much Hov has gotten less traction with the youth cause I always felt he'd be one of those rite of passage rappers like Nas, Big etc. But I think hes been away so long hes sort of out of sight and out of mind.

I think out of all the rappers from the older era from NY that still have the youth is probably 50 cause of his influence on Pop Smoke.

And as far as hits go, Jim has been without a hit damn near as long as Nas and I would venture to say Nas has more from the 90s/early 00s than Jim in the 00s. Ballin and Pop Champagne are about it and really its only Ballin.

And he can get out of here with saying the Heatmarkerz shyt is better than Hit Boy we've seen this for a minute, we know what tracks more.

Jim Jones being even remotely lit is a weird 🧢 that has been being perpetuated by some other old dusty nigs here and there I’ve been noticing. Nowhere on earth, no place, is Jim Jones poppin. Nobody is buying Jim Jones music, he doesn’t have a fan base besides the aforementioned old rusty probably washed tri-state residual Dipset fans with dry hands and bad knees/hairlines.

Ballin was a hit record in rap…no none rap heads can name another Jim Jones record, if they even name that one, I promise. Outside of the tri-state, some rap heads can’t even name another Jim Jones record.

Jim Jones has a few good tapes back when he was just the Capo…
Ryder Musik
City Of God
Ambitionz Of A Gangsta
The 7 Day Theory

He ain’t touching Nas though.

The interviewer should have brought up Jim being quiet as a church mouse when he was in the elevator with Nas

At the end of the day, Nas only has himself to blame for Gen Z rejecting him. All that reclusive and antisocial shyt has done him no favors and he's been living off Illmatic for decades.

Apart from a bunch of albums that no one outside of his core fanbase was checking for nothing he's done within the last 20 years has penetrated the culture. Zero presence on social media. No impact on fashion or in media. No club or street anthems. No slaps for the hoes. No iconic verses/features. No time or cultural defining moments.

Why the fukk would Gen Z care about him?
