When trains were invented, there were some people who thought that if you rode them you would die because moving 40 miles per hour (GASP) would certainly suck the air out of a human's lungs and suffocate you. I'm guessing some of these people also thought the train companies were part of a diabolical conspiracy.
Unfortunately any tech or advance in science brings with it negativity and fear mongering.

Why? If you want things to operate within a schedule, rerouting, increased speed and safety etc. And that's what I can think of off top. I mean asking someone what electricity could do in the late 19th century isn't a fair request. You don't know what innovation's possible til someone does it.

I never thought I would have a smart phone in my hand 20 years ago. A regular cellphone was great.

I am a programmer and have been doing it for a pretty long time now. I studied this stuff to post-graduate level. IMO the items you listed are not justification enough.

2008 and the current mess should show you how rules can be suspended, bent or even broken on a whim.

Trump et. al. have two trillion USD to "give away" with few to no controls. The rules are for you, to give you comfort. They are not for them.

And again, why the rush. Look at the EU - one thing became another over time. Look at Nafta - one thing became another over time. Look at post 9/11 security laws - one thing became another over time. Even now via the discount window free money is fed into the banking system, basically rewarding people with free money (your money) for almost collapsing the financial system.

Google started as the most free thinking company out there. If would "always be free" and it would not "commercialize" search. Good solid "dijkstra-esque" tex-ian principles. Now they are one of the largest purveyors of surveillance on the planet.

Make advancements but do it at a slower pace.

Why give people who have shown that they cannot be trusted all this additional power?

To coin a phrase it is "government G-SIMP'ing" :picard: . They byatch slap you over and over again and yet you keep running back for more :picard: .

Oh I can alright. Just not one that we need now.

That sort of bandwidth is related to video. We don't need massive amounts of additional video over that geographic spread.

p.s. slow down on the assumptions about what people know or don't know :whoa: ... The coli #666gang :wow: is heavy in these tech discussion streets.

p.p.s. that sort of video surveillance on that scale hasn't been around since the 90's. plus pre. deep mind and other big data techniques we had no way to computationally interpret said data.

:what: various field techs who need to download multi-gigabyte firmware etc for use in seconds or minutes need those speeds now. i know techs who've had to leave sites and find some library or public hotspot cause they didn't have 45 mins or 2 hours to wait on their 4G connection to download a file.

True but answer the question..

Why give people who have shown that they cannot be trusted all this additional power?

To coin a phrase it is "government G-SIMP'ing" :picard: . They byatch slap you and yet you keep running back for more :picard: .

So business to business limited coverage. I think I did mention coverage :what:.

4g isn't fast enough, 5G allows for much greater speeds. there's no evidence that 5G which produces non-ionizing radiation is dangerous. you base the need for 5G on your wants and the limited possibilities you can conceive of it's use. 5G is gonna bring in some new competition for residential ISP's especially in rural areas stuck with shytty old satellite, DSL or dial-up. towers are usually already there for cell service, they can just add small cell site relays to lamp posts. and rural america can get high speed internet. The same will benifit 3rd world countries who will leap frog from not having fiber to the home to having wireless internet. it's costly to get permits and land rights to dig up dirt and bury fiber mile after mile. theres some serious cost savings with this tech.every carrier will soon offer 5G internet service for home use within 5 years. can't wait for those price wars.:wow:

the market will determine if 5G is what people want or not:manny:

Like Facebook, Google et al ?

The market is an illusion. It is more of a "which color do you want this car in" type of market than a free market.

Also free market theory presupposes that all participants know the same info. Clearly not true.

It also presupposes that people know what is best for them - which flies against the reality of our laws and case history.

Free market theory also presupposes non-biases / compromised "agency" which is not true.

Health and Safety legislation, National Security legislation all constrain "markets".

If I set out mouse traps the mice will walk into them. A so it goes with this. People don't understand what they are getting into or even what they potentially could be getting into.

On another note if the "mob" is always right what does that say about genocide, murder, racism .. ? What does that say about who we elect or have elected?

Finally the question of what is right or wrong can be considered outside of the scope of market forces.

They’re being set on fire because 5G is a threat to the health of citizens. I know you idiots don’t like to read books and scientific articles so I’ll let y’all carry on

:snoop:

Can't believe 46 people dapped you. Yall gotta read up on radio waves and spectrum. The best version of 5G (mmwave) can't even give a signal to your phone unless you have line of sight to it. It doesn't go through buildings, hell even a storm fukks it up. Why aren't people worried about 4G which is already here? :mindblown:

It has nothing to do with health effects they are burning it because China installed those towers.

China’s reign is over
China's reign is just getting started. :mjcry: I don't say that with a lick of pride or happiness but you are in denial saying that.:francis:
