funny, I just read none of the major branches are expecting to hit their recruiting numbers due to not being fit and just ppl not considerinhibit as an option.

if I knew what I knew now, I would’ve definitely considered it. You can finesse some lifetime benefits if you know the game.

The younger Millennials and Zoomer generation already have a problem with authoritative boundaries and the concept of work as we know it but they also just aren't as gung-ho about the military as previous generations....and can you blame them?

Like it or not 9/11 bought the military a lot of Goodwill and the increased sense of country along with a smattering of benefits is what led to the last generation joining the military.

Kids that are 18 today did not grow up in that atmosphere and mostly remember the global war on terror which significantly dulled the shine of the military

I think the obesity is explainable, people didn’t have access to food back in the day like kids do now, folks could barley afford meat back in the day and right now we can get a burger for a dollar, but I don’t think obesity makes people less capable just have to work harder
you're arguing malnutrition and its effects versus gross, defined obesity edit: fr - that's a damned good link check it out

also, basic training is not personalized like that. obesity or various kinds of issues that fall outside of the frame of what the military can work with just lead to incidents.

i think most are looking at this the wrong way - its *good* that people can't make it in. yal shouldn't want injury prone, mentally instable, financially dependent non-critical thinkers taking up tax payer dollars. the skew on this reporting is blatant. recruiting lagging is notable, sure, but is that a problem? for who exactly?

Yeah that ain’t it at all. Folks in a rush to go to school to end up working the same data entry position they could of gotten without a college degree a few years ago. To me it seems as if degrees are becoming more over inflated than of actual use for most citizens.
Yes there's tons of useless ass majors that don't pay and even the quality of the students reflect the positions that they get accepted for in the Job market.

I’m choosing the Chinese army over our low iq weed smoking / drinking degenerate anti Patriot General public And they outnumber us . Through propaganda the Chinese government have cultivated a hive mindset where everyones lives for the greater good of China.

:yeshrug:
That hive mindset is due to break pretty soon, and you just say our low iq like you assuming Chinese people are just off the rip more intelligent. Majority of folks in China work menial labor jobs or in agriculture, let’s not act like they’re just born smart many of the ones you see here in high education are the w minority.

Yet the U.S. military faces increasing difficulty finding enough quality recruits to meet its already slimmed-down goals. According to the Pentagon, 71 percent of Americans age 17 to 24 are ineligible to join the military, primarily because they are too overweight or too poorly educated, or they have a record of serious crime or drug abuse.

This is what a crumbiling empire looks like.
I mean, when I was 18....I was 5'8" 145 lbs with a 5:30 mile, 48 push-ups in 60 seconds, 55 sit-ups in 60 seconds and 7 to 10 pull ups.

At that age, with all that testosterone...you should be hella fit. Great time to be in shape and take advantage of your hormones.

i don't think people are 'less healthy' today at all. if those same obesity rates existed back in those days people would've just straight up died :dead: healthcare has come a LONG ways in keeping people on their feet and catching issues earlier than ever

but you're veering into a weird era comparing argument now. the reason the standards have changed for the military is because they know and understand the indicators of a disaster waiting to happen far better than they used to.

and most importantly they'd rather not cut VA checks for people booted out early for shin splints, back, knee, and hip injuries when they could've just filtered them out at the door.

It was easier to be in shape back in the day because "junk food" wasn't a thing. Companies spend millions and billions of dollars using scientists to come up with artificially flavored food that appeals to our taste buds and brain receptors.

Old school people ate chicken, beans and greens. Maybe some peach cobbler on Sundays. Food had less hormones in it.

Having said that, I'd take a modern soldier over a WW2 soldier even with the same equipment. Saw a model of the "average" soldier back then. Those dudes were small. Probably more fit but even a couch potato today could man handle one of those dudes back then. Problem is that the old school dude could do a 10 mile hike in full gear with ease. Kids today... :flabbynsick:

dead ass - the lack of soft drinks. etc through basic had my whole squad down to less than 10% body fat like we took the super soldier serum :mjlol: but we all showed up in halfway decent shape.

the fat boys who somehow made it in? there's simply not enough time to fix and unfukk a lifetime of unhealthy living up to that point.
