You dudes overrate the 90s like crazy out here. The only thing John Starks is going to be cooking is that side of that rim with how many times the ball is going to bounce back out for a Miami fast break.
Ewing would get his, but LeBron would make it look easy against these guys. Oakley is not going to guard LeBron...who is? Charles Smith? Anthony Mason?

He'd be one of the last players I'd call overrated.Maybe his legend gets a lil overblown, but his actual basketball skills can't be denied.His overall game was beautiful nh.One of the best combinations of modern day athleticism/fundamentally sound/crafty/ingenious skills ever manifested in a player.The slickness, the smarts, the versatility

I have a uncle who coached basketball for 35 years at the high school/AAU level.
There's only 3 players he told me to watch and study growing up.

Overall, D wade is more of a volume scorer.His first instinct is to score.
Penny's game was more balanced.
Looking over their career stats, the most fga's taking per game in a single season for Penny was 15.9......12.4 per game for his career.
Wade has averaged 18.5 fga's a game every year since his rookie year, maxing out at 22 fga's per game in '09
Penny didn't really have a scorers mentality.I know it's cliche, but he "let the game come to him".Basketball wise, he was a bit of an eccentric.From a fundamental/technical standpoint, I think he was a better scorer than Wade.Wade is a better penetrator, but post up, J, 3pt wise...Penny was better.I think Penny could've easily put up 30 a game if he was on a "middle of the pack" team (Like Miami from the time Shaq left to the time Bron got there) and just focused on "being the man".
Whenever Shaq was out, Penny would put up monster numbers.He'd have 2 week stretches where he'd average 29 points...7 boards...8 assist.
But by the time Shaq left Orlando, penny got hit with the injury bug.The only time we really got to see him really do his thing without Shaq was in the '97 playoffs.He suffered through injuries that year, but he came back healthy during the playoffs, and lit the Heat up.I believe the Heat were the #1 ranked defense in the league that year.Penny got them for 40 in back to back games.Small sample size, but them injuries did him in

the only dynamic perimeter threat the knicks really had was starks and he wasn't anywhere as good as guys that miami has locked up. he was a streaky 3 point shooter and wade, chalmers, lebron, cole...they'd all be able to stay in with him so he'd have problems getting into the paint and getting shots. they'd have to run him off screens for clean looks...and miami is good at defending that shyt. what'd he average? like 15-16 points a game in the playoffs? even less against the bulls? so even if he did slightly better than that, he still wouldn't be "cooking" anybody.
