A comment on the election being about racism

Who in here is stating that racism was the sole reason of the election outcome?
I and many others are simply stating that it was A reason.
There are a number of contributing factors: dislike of Hillary, dislike of establishment politics, shafting of Sanders, rust belt struggles, and yes racism, and yes xenophobia.
Hell you don't have to take my word for it, simply head over to Twitter and look at it for yourself.
It would be ridiculous to blame racism as the sole reason for the election result - that's just not true. But it is also naive to downplay or disregard racism/xenophobia as a contributing factor.

Yes, electing a white nationalist sympathizer as president is pretty much a huge "fukk you" to minorities. There's no point sugarcoating it at this point.
Why does this seem so improbable to you? Because that just "feels" like too many?

Does it surprise you that well-to-do, white Latinos can be racist against brown mestizos? Particularly Cubans in south Florida, who always inflate the Hispanic number for Repubs?

Retweet white nationalists and still not be recognized as one or as a sympathizer, crehs.
Claim to not know who the KKK is and refuse to reject their support on national TV and still not be recognized as a white nationalist or as a sympathizer, crehs.
Agree with major policy proposals as white nationalists do such as demonizing and banning Muslims and deporting Mexicans and still not be recognized as a white nationalist or as a sympathizer, crehs.

The policies on Immigration and Muslim migrants from war zones are not proof of anything either theres plenty of Black and latino people who share those same positions...in fact Obama has been the biggest deporter so far..i guess hes a white nationalist too.
The man has been on TV almost non stop for 30 years..If he really was a "white nationalist" the trail would be impossible to hide...look how his comments on women got exposed.

I'm sorry, I don't agree. This type of thinking is why dems lost, and why they'll try to shove booker down our throats in 4 years.

You don't have to agree, but it is straight facts. This country was founded on ethnic cleansing and slavery. It is racist to its core, the entire socioeconomic order is premised on white supremacy and the control of Black bodies and Native land.
You can't deal with racism without addressing class (you end up with identity politics) and you can't deal with class without racial justice (you end up with a kind of neo-fascism).

I can agree with this. I just don't believe ALL his supporters are like that. I mean the numbers just don't add up, and look where he won too.
Of course he has the nasties. But he has the obama whites as well. And that's why the dems lost.

Yes, but the fact that those "Obama whites" did not find Trump's very open and overt racism to be disqualifying says quite a bit IMO.
Every cac who subscribes/was socialized into to the concept of whiteness has a bit of Hitler in them. Harsh truth.
