Yes, but the fact that those "Obama whites" did not find Trump's very open and overt racism to be disqualifying says quite a bit IMO.

Every cac who subscribes/was socialized into to the concept of whiteness has a bit of Hitler in them. Harsh truth.
You're last sentence there is critical. White people only dicuss class and the neoliberal "minorities" only dicuss race. Neither works. Only black people or just people that think alternatively (like here) know both matter equally. The hillary supporters don't understand this and they won't until there's a revolt against the booker or some other northeastern centrist in late 2019.

Neither did trump, but he got enough latino votes for this not to matter.

What it boils down to is that we (minorities) know our humanity is worth so much while cacs feel that our humanity is negotiable. Even if you wanna say that they voted based on economics, which is true to a large degree, they had no issue with racism, sexism, and xenophobia going along with it. As always, cacs find us to be disposable.

This whole thread is based on faulty assumptions and wishful thinking.

So because (1) voter turnout was low, (2) Trump did about the same with minorities as Romney, and (3) certain counties that voted for Obama twice went for Trump, that it's really all about the economy? That there are actually voters---not just counties and abstract geographic areas, but voters----who pulled the lever for Obama twice, but decided to vote for Trump because they had strong opinions about NAFTA? Nope. I'm calling bullshyt.

First of all, the average Trump voter isn't some poor, downtrodden worker. They are economically okay, even if they live in less affluent parts of the country. Second, even with the very low turnout, 15 percent of voters said it was their first time voting. That's up from 9 percent in 2012. If those were all just young voters, Democrats would have benefited tremendously. But they didn't. Even though turnout was depressed, people who didn't seem to give a shyt about voting decided to vote for Trump.

I'm not trying to be snarky when I say this---don't fall for the bullshyt. The fact that so many of standard Republican voters were able to chuck economic and social issues --- issues that they claimed were near and dear to their hearts for so many elections---means that this election was really about the issues that Trump kept constant and amplified. Those issues were illegal immigration, tough-on-crime law enforcement, and strong national security. I promise you, there is no mythical "Obama-Trump" voter.

And yes, 59 million people CAN be racist. No, they're not all Klansmen, but they have racist assumptions about why illegal immigration is bad and why Black Lives Matter needs to be stopped. Those were their primary motivations to vote. Without the white nationalist element, those same voters would not have found the more progressive elements of Trump's platform appealing.

For years, when conservatives hailed the glory of the free market economy and were asked why Nordic countries were so successful, their response was "Well...those countries have a different 'culture.' " THIS is the kind of person who voted for Trump---a person who thinks that more socialism is only worth it if the "wrong" kind of people aren't getting the benefits of it. And if they are, then those same voters will go back to "government is too big, cut taxes, starve the beast, no more welfare queens."

Racism was not a distinct and separate part of Trump's economic plan. It was an indispensable element.

I look at it like this....What better way to really LOCK up that section of the votes, then giving them an outlet for how they really feel, and who they really blame, and resent? Some of those guys, strictly on economics may have went Bernie, but the blatant racism, sexism, ideologies, common man everyday dummy type shyt really cemented that vote for him, brought it home for the 'silent majority'. Now, that's not ALL of his votes, but it represents a wide swath.

Also, are we really going have alt right idealogies and words thrown around here?

I'm going to ask this for the 10th time since every time I ask it you guys disappear.

Please tell me how the rights of black Americans are going to be infringed upon under this administration. I would like to know which racist policies I supported specifically by voting for Trump. I want you to give as many examples as you like. If I'm subconsciously a racist I would like to change.

Please tell me how I have signed the death certificate for racial equality.

BLM doesn't need to be stopped, but it can be replaced if it doesn't smarten up and stop with all the deray bs. Illegal immigration...is a crime. Just like when you get robbed. It has put people out of jobs. And frankly there is no minority solidarity, 28-35% of latinos went to Trump. Let's drop that now; they don't care.

This is promoting the mainstream liberal narrative. Of course race was part of his campaign. We saw it. What we didn't see was that Obama voters went to him. And that HRC is a person who only campaigns from 9-5.

The only wishful thinking is that identity politics can continue in this climate. Or maybe we need black people not on social media to start calling folks out for being absent from the community..

Can you think of anything else?

Would stop and frisk cut down crime in the black communities and save a lot of black lives?
