Average Qb's don't go to the probowl 4 times. He wasn't talented but he was a good QB. He stunk in Detroit and Cleveland, but who didn't?

He shouldn't be comapred to Smith since he isn't in the same category.

Anywho, I feel sorry for the fans of any team that lands him.

c/s thats disrespect for garcia

define managing the game.

Not turning the ball over? The QB's job is to not to that? No fukking shyt.

Just so you know 'managing' the game is not that easy. If Mark Sanchez was a game manager the Jet's would have made the playoffs. Like I said before he literally threw games away. Alex Smith won't do that. He won't bail you out but he won't bury you and if you can give him some talent in thr backfield he can be a stopgap starter while you search for that guy who can be a franchise QB.

A QB's value is relative every year, this year Alex Smith's value is quite high, because this draft class of QB's is weak and there are virtually little to no viable free agents. Alex Smith is the best QB available by commitee. Furthermore 8.5 milly is relatively cheap for a starting QN and his contract can be easily cut, extended or restructured as the team sees fit.

I remember Jets fans applauding Mcelroy for taking 11 sacks, because if it was Sanchez he would of threw a bunch of picks. That's my point on game managers, they are scared to make plays.

We have some delusional fans, when did taking 11 sacks become good. :heh:

But let's be reality 65% of the leagues QB's are just that. For a team like the Chiefs or Jets a game manager is still an upgrade from bad and can take you to the playoffs or give you a punchers chance at .500

Game managers need a good defense and good offensive supporting cast to be good. Game managers are useless on rebuilding teams which we sorta are.

65% of the league QBs are game managers? :mindblown:

Remember Sean King? He was the definition of a game manager. He wouldn't make mistakes but wouldn't make plays either. It was a wrap as soon as the Bucs were down because he simply wasn't a good enough passer to make plays when the pressure was on.

It will be interesting to see how Smith does in KC. If he's asked to not make mistakes...they may win half their games give or take. If he's asked to win games, they will have a new starting QB by season's end.

There are only 5 or 6 arguably elite QB's and only 5 or 6 guys that are complete trash, I consider the ones in between to be some form of game manager to varying degrees, which is not a dirty word to me. Again Matt Cassel imo, is trash, if Alex Smith and Andy Reid can get these guys to 8-8 they will likely make that playoffs in such a bad division, save the Broncos, who will likely be unable to duplicate last years success but still go 10-6 or 11-5. KC has the running game, and many good pieces on defense, they just need some more weapons and Alex Smith will make a good placeholder till that guy comes in next years draft.
