Meh. It isnt a bad deal. Smith at least is a vet that can step in right away and take command. For a 2-14 team, the Chiefs roster is surprisingly solid. Crennel just had zero control over the team.

Crennel was an awful coach.

But you look at the Chiefs and there is talent there, getting a QB to lead that talent is the right move.

Tony Moeake, Dwayne Bowe, Jamal Charles and Baldwin are nice pieces. They also got some playmakers on defense.

They`re immediately the second best team in their division because of this move.

They don't need a stopgap vet. They could have gotten someone cheap for that. Get a Ryan Mallett. Kirk Cousins. Someone who is possibly developmental for the future. Alex Smith is too fukking expensive. They're not seeing the Broncos next season and they have a pretty tough schedule despite finishing last. Hell, go get Matt Hasselbeck if it's THAT serious.

Anything was better than this. There's a reason why other teams need a QB just as bad and didn't even lift a finger for Alex Smith.

If not this year, you'll see the Chiefs take a QB next year. You guys handed Andy Reid the keys....at least let him do his thing first. You have to have some faith.

you dont give up basically a late first for him though when there werent many suitors and if the Niners didnt get a deal might have just relased him evnetually

Ehh, Arizona was willing to trade for him too.

Getting a good starting QB is hard to do, teams have been trying to do it for over a decade and couldn't.

A 2nd round pick is a complete unknown, Reid is a QB guy, he wanted a good QB more than the 34th pick.

He's a backup..It doesn't matter that we were nowhere near your level. When you trade for a backup you are saying that someone's player who isn't good enough for them is good enough for your franchise.

He will flop here just like Bono & Grbac.

Didnt' they just do this same shyt with ol' boy whose coaching for Pittsburgh now (can't remember his name ) and Cassell? Smith has had 1.5 good years as a glorified game manager. Reid for all his QB guru acclaim has only truly gurued one QB towards greatness and has a penchant for fukking up in big games/moments. This should be fun. .

When you're 2-14 and there's barely a QB worth a 1st round selection, you have to find an upgrade elsewhere.

There's only 5-6 great QB's and they're never made available. Sometimes you have to take a good one and build.
