It's not, but they didn't really have a choice in the matter seeing as they're over the cap already and gave up the future first-round picks to get him. I would have locked in MPJ first as I think it's the key to their championship aspirations, but I guess his deal will eventually come as well.

$23 million per year ain’t what it used to be. That’s about market rate for a guy like Aaron Gordon. He’ll be your defensive anchor and is good enough on offense that he needs to be accounted for by the other team.

It is when you're going to have Jokic supermax on the books, plus Murray and MPJ's eventual deal as well. Even when the cap goes up, they still won't have the flexibility, which is why they really had no other choice but to pay him. Not many teams out here are paying their 4th option nearly $25 million a season, which is what he's going to be for them unless they let MPJ walk.

Hopefully he can stay healthy.

he's not getting paid as a "3rd option" he is getting paid cause he is far and away the best defender on their team. SOMEBODY has to be able to guard wings on that team. Who else are they going to get to do it ? Murray . Maga Porter Jr .
