he's not getting paid as a "3rd option" he is getting paid cause he is far and away the best defender on their team. SOMEBODY has to be able to guard wings on that team. Who else are they going to get to do it ? Murray :mjlol:. Maga Porter Jr :mjlol:.

What is a "3rd' of "4th" option anyway ?

Nobody gives a fukk about defense. Stop it. Nets were ranked in the 20s and were n injury from washing the bucks. Last few Lebron Cavs teams were absolute ass. You want wing defenders go get Ariza, PJ Tucker, and a bunch of other cheaper serviceable options. Their bench depth is still ass with Jeff Green as their beat option :scust:

Supposedly they are in discussions with him as well, but I would make sure I work out that deal before he hits restricted agency. Some team might fukk around and throw him a $30+ million dollar offer sheet that they can't/wont match :picard:
hes coming off a rookie deal, arent there limits to his max contract?

He can get the same $172 that SGA got from OKC. He obviously won't get that amount, but I could see a team trying to pry him away from Denver in restricted free agency depending on whether the owner is willing to dip into the luxury tax to keep the core together. A lot of owners say they will, but it's a different thing when the bill comes in lol.

Exactly like what's going on over there in Utah whose owner has been cutting salary to reduce the luxury tax amount.

The idea of AG is good, too bad he’s not close to being what he should be.

It is when you're going to have Jokic supermax on the books, plus Murray and MPJ's eventual deal as well. Even when the cap goes up, they still won't have the flexibility, which is why they really had no other choice but to pay him. Not many teams out here are paying their 4th option nearly $25 million a season, which is what he's going to be for them unless they let MPJ walk.

Hopefully he can stay healthy.
I don't know their salary situation, but when you have a Jokic supermax + the max of Murray and a big contract for MPJ, you're probably capped out regardless of what you're paying Gordon. If you're capped out anyway, might as well make sure you keep the guy. Denver also isn't a natural FA destination.

I’m sure they are prepared to pay his max if needed. There is no way they signed Gordon to just lose MPJ down the line

Being capped out is fine, but being the luxury tax is an issue itself. They are going to be in the luxury tax, which is why you'll eventually see them moving players outside of the big 4 to reduce their luxury tax amount. It's the same thing that GS and Utah have done this offseason with moving lower tier players.

But would you rather move lower tier players or let Gordon walk for nothing? In the playoffs that rotation shrinks to 8 or 9 players anyway, and I think Denver is confident in their ability to replenish talent on cheap contracts through the draft where they’re excellent and finding and developing talent

They’re just kicking the can down the road. Jokic is locked in for 2 more years. Murray locked in until 2025. I think MPJ got two more years when you factor in the qualifying offer. By then the cap probably goes up a decent amount. And if not then these guys are going to be good trade material.
