Yea, I give it about 20 or so years til they work out all the bugs and either pass legit regulation standards or the corporations just use the elected officials that’s in their pockets to change regulations…..


At a certain point, having a pilot on board will just be for public PR.



I’m for keeping 2-3 pilots on board from a jobs/labor, as well as redundancy standpoint. But essentially drone commercial flights are gonna be the way eventually.

I'm an air traffic controller for an enroute facility, had no idea this was a thing.

I knew that the regional airlines were getting a big pay raise, and people in our union were getting upset that we aren't also seeing a bigger raise.... But had no idea that they were also trying to push 1 pilot in the cockpit.

It doesn't seem safe in the slightest. Medical emergency? Incapacitation? An emergency with the airplane, visibility issues where another set of eyes is needed.. hell just another set of ears for ATC commands at the very least. So many reasons to have 2 people in the cockpit

Airlines saved an immense amount of money over the past couple decades in training and recruitment by damn near exclusively hiring retired military pilots from the Vietnam war on through Desert Storm.

With the drop in wars and therefore military pilots the airlines have not had a steady stream of pre-trained labor to pull from. It’s a crisis they saw coming 20 years ago.

All those former military pilots are now retiring and now the airlines are now poaching pilots from each other because they don’t want to invest in training people off the street. It’s expensive and time consuming to train people themselves. Covid only sped up this ticking time bomb called retirement.

So we need another 10 year war?

Yes there's autopilot but a computer system can always have problems or not be able to respond to certain circumstances. There's absolutely no way I'm getting on a plane with one pilot. There's no way I'm trying to be in a situation where I'm 30,000 feet in the air on a plane with no pilot, hell nah.
