As a person who has been a big fan of his since pretty much his whole career, this isn't true. His greatest character has been towards the his TNA run to right now. Character was the very last thing people were giving props to Styles for his whole career. Even when he came to the WWE, people were hesitant about his mic skills, but now it's no question that he's off the charts both in the ring and in promos. What drew fans to Styles was his WRESTLING. Other than that, people had him pegged as a great wrestler who couldn't talk well enough.
I never said AJ was a great talker, I said he's been better than Bryan throughout their careers. In terms of "It" factor, that's not about being good no the mic. It's just an intangible that some guys naturally have. Jeff Hardy has never been great on the mic, but he's always had that thing that made fans gravitate towards him.
better talker? debatable, judgement is clouded by the fact that AJ has been a heel and is benefiting from that. His mic-work as a babyface was never better than average.
More natural charisma? AJ will never be more over than Bryan at his peak so how exactly is he more charismatic?
I'd actually say AJ has been hurt by being a heel. AJ has always (IMO) been a more natural face, his face promos come across as more genuine.
And yes, AJ has more natural charisma. The knock on Bryan for the vast majority of his career was that he lacked charisma and it was the thing he had to work on the most during his time in WWE. Even by his own admission he needed that time doing those skits with Kane to bring that out of him.
AJ's charisma has never been questioned. Also you can't say AJ will NEVER be as over as Bryan because he's only been in WWE for little over a year and you also can't see into the damn future. Nobody in a million years would have guessed Daniel Bryan would have gotten over more than CM Punk, and Punk had more natural charisma than Bryan and AJ.
Bryan got over because of his amazing in ring work and he started to develop as a character more and more, it definitely took time for him to get there. AJ hasn't even had a meaningful face run in WWE yet, so lets not act as if he's even come close to hitting his ceiling in WWE yet.
