See what happens when R & B is no longer done with the church and the kids of today no longer can play instruments in schools? We get that shyt. All soulless and processed.

I felt nothing listening to this girl singing, straight :wtb: status the whole time.

Not knocking Ariana...she is talented. I've been saying that to black folks for the past few years. The masses do not want to hear RnB/Soul from black folks anymore. Usher dropped one of the most successful RnB albums of all time...shyt went diamond and now that nikka has been pushed to pop.
it's not that the masses don't want rnb from black folks, it's that artists like User know the white folks want it too = more $$$$$

I know, she like the young Christina Aguilera, but with even less soul. Like Eminem, you give props on the skill, but none on the soul level.

in her defense, grandes first album is 10000 times better than xtina aguileras first album.
this girl is still young. give her time to go through things that would put soul into her singing.

Is it gonna take another WW or Vietnam to wake these cats up socially or are we through?:damn:

We through. Life to us now is all about the club and getting turnt up 24/7. Even people on this board say that you can't have a social life unless you go to the club every weekend and get piss drunk listening to the latest trap/techno track. We lost in every sense.

girl on fire wasnt "original"

maybe the melody she sang, not the beat

and all her other ish before wasnt that original if you think about it. melodies yes, but not her piano compositions.

I didn't say it was original I think you misread my post

What I was implying was she left her roots with Girl On Fire (album) the album felt geared towards trying to get radio plays.

And thanks for trivia I had no idea that song was sampled from that :ehh:

And you're right most her music are covers of old songs like Every Little Bit hurts and so on

For the nikkas that have"swag" and know "how to get p*ssy" yep, they reflect all the black community has to offer these days. We bee reduced to parody status.

did what to ourselves?

it's nobodies fault that this white girl can sing really good. the fukk

Ya'll be trying to sound pro black sometimes but coming off mad awkward. this would be the equivalent of posting Jason Williams (white chocolate) basketball videos at the height of the And 1 movement, and making comments like "this is what happens when we don't control anything. we did this to ourselves"

like my nikka. stop..

it's not always some slight against black folks when a white person is good at something brehs. Ariana Grande making music isn't gonna suddenly turn every black female songstress into dust. :ld:

You're making way too much sense for The Coli Militants breh :salute:

This girl isn't a replacement for anybody at least not yet. Alicia Keys' last album did in 1 week what her's did in total almost a year ago. What's hurting R&B artists is them distancing themselves from what made them in the first place. Alicia Keys' best work was her Hip Hop influenced brand of R&B co-produced by longtime partner Krucial Keys. The more she branched out from that sound, the more the quality of her music declined along with the sales. Same goes for Usher. His biggest song is a Hip Hop inspired club banger ("Yeah"), but he insists on making singles out "DJ Got Us Falling In Love" and a few others that sound like that.

maxwell understands this and thats y he still sells even when gone for a long time he stays true too his sound and fan base
