All these years later and I'm still DISGUSTED at Nas for signing to Jay-Z

But to say he was a figure head who had nothing to do with nothing is factually wrong.
I don't think Jay was a figure head overall as president of Def Jam, but in this situation, given the history, it makes sense that LA Reid would have directly negotiated the deal with Nas. But you're saying its factually wrong so just let us know what the specific facts are with this situation with Nas/Jay/LA Reid.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
I get what you are saying in terms of how corporate structure typically works, but in this specific case, Nas and LA Reid have said that it didn't work that way. SO unless you have specific evidence to contradict what LA Reid and Nas have said...
This is the point that HE’s missing. shyt even in corporate. I have seen District Managers override the GM’s decisions. And Regional Managers override the DM’s decisions. This isn’t abnormal or new. Yes. What he said is what typically works. But there’s always special cases. Nas is that special case.

I'm not saying it's not a good deal, but the fact that he had to go to Jay for it is what you're choosing to neglect.
I don't think you understand what a bidding war is.
When there is a bidding war, the artist or athlete doesn't "have" to go anywhere. The company/team has to pay in order to get the artist/athlete.

Yes there was. nikka u crazy? Nas just came off a 6 platinum album run.

In all seriousness, yes there was a bidding war. However it should've been an instant no after finding out Jay was the president. Just from a man with dignity and pride standpoint. Jay was his boss, nobody wanted to admit it out of fear of hurting the business and stepping on Nas ego.

Steve Jobs HATED Samsung and Apple still used their components for their products.

Bad analogy! :rudy:

Steve Jobs certainly "HATED" Samsung, but Jobs & Apple had NO CHOICE but to deal with Samsung because Samsung was the only major manufacturer that could create top quality screens & hardware for Apple's iPhone/iPad products on a large scale that could keep up with Apple's high demand.

Also, Steve Jobs was cool with Samsung up until 2010 when Jobs found out that Samsung was bringing their own smartphone to the market as Jobs felt it was a blatant copy of Apple's iPhone.

You’d be surprised to learn that the two companies used to get along great. Their legal battle started when Samsung started rolling out Android devices. Then Apple chief executive Steve Jobs infamously called it a “stolen” product – a ripoff the iPhone.

I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong. I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go to thermonuclear war on this. —Steve Jobs to Walter Isaacson, March 2010.

A boss has power over his employee. What power did Jay have over Nas? Could he stop Nas from eating?
