Comparatively speaking, whose career has seen more longevity and success? I'm talking rappers that came up circa Wayne's time. Only name I can think of is Kanye.
wayne has many different timelines.

I'm aware they've been around longer than he has. But as far as taking other rappers' beats and turning them into essentially his own songs? I personally think Wayne has to take credit for that.
if you don't know your history, youre prone to make the same mistakes.

50 did it first tho breh...he might not get the recognition i think he deserves but if anything he will go down as the undisputable mixtape revolutionizer

That goes to 50 & G-Unit

No doubt 50 is the guy who takes credit for bringing mixtapes to the game. I still have all the G-Unit Radios myself lol.

But which, if any, of 50 or G-Unit's mixtapes are as memorable as Drought III or Dedication II? What I'm saying is Wayne made took mixtapes to a level G-Unit never did.

Edit: I'm also not saying that Wayne's career can be summed up by his mixtape contributions either, but that over the years he's been able to drop some album-quality material for free.

he took all the top tracks and remixed it. for like 10 mixtapes. in like a 3 year period. he was a force to be reckoned with. now that has been replaced by white couples jumping on whatever bandwagon and hopping on youtube trying to be a force of nature.

I wouldn't put him top 50 as a rapper

But based on influence he top 15, he had an entire generation, and STILL GOT COPYCATS APPEARING copying him. His rhymes, flow, style, swag, drug use.... No one can deny that

I'm talking big picture. He's probably most remembered for his CII-CIII era, but I think he was a solid artist when he dropped CI and even before then.
i wil always remember lil wayne as masta ace saw him.

rap was built on copy cating and folks pretending they were original.
