Gta V had a few gimmicks like the submersible that didn’t actually change any gameplay it was just do this do that and it basically held your hand in every mission.

With the an even more boring gameplay loop than what you just described.

At least there was an element of challenge in GTA IV and the story had me invested.

GTA V was funny but a very shallow experience.

You: "Yeah, GTA V had missions that weren't, "go here, chase this guy, have a shootout, lose the cops," BUT those missions were still bound by the game's gameplay."

And no, the loop was nothing like IV's. It had something that R* thankfully realized was missing and corrected with the BOGT DLC -- variety. You can say you preferred the story in IV. Cool. But don't tell me it had more variety in mission structure and objectives. That's objectively false and you're not arguing in good faith. Stop trying to "win" and just say you liked the story better.

Man you can’t tell me how I feel about a game…. it isn’t objectively false by any stretch.

The variety that you speak of in V was very gimmicky it wasn’t like San Andreas where the mission variety was vast and their were different gameplay mechanics that offered a real challenge .

The final mission in GTA IV was so much more memorable No I did like the gameplay better because the car physics were a challenge and the enemies were more formidable. GTA V was a cakewalk…

Variety for the sake of variety is just gimmicky isn’t oh wow I get to go in a submarine or experience some weird drug trip or do yoga with my wife, that doesn’t mean the game is giving you cool new challenging things to do it’s giving you cinematic experiences with fairly simple inputs. Cool to look at, but didn’t make me think how am I going to approach this scenario.

It’s been years since I played either campaign
But I felt like I overcame adversity with 4 especially with that finale with Jacob and the helicopter, whereas I just just speedran through my friends GTA V game. It’s a better looking more colourful game with a bigger world and easier to drive through but didn’t offer much challenge.

nikka, shut up. Not reading that wall of text. Objectively, the missions were more varied. It means dikk that you found them "gimmicky." I don't gaf about how you feel about that.

I think GTA 6 will be the last GTA game that I’m going to ever buy if it ever comes out.
Just imagine how many of us were young as hell when GTA 5 came out and then waiting over a full decade for them to release a new game and you’re not young anymore.
People I knew died before they even got the chance to play GTA 6. :smh:

For GTAVI, I wanna see wayyyyyy more detail with buildings & interiors. Like you can go up in any structure, maybe rob some cribs and shyt. More ways to handle missions. Like if I wanna use stealth and strangle someone, let me do that. Don't force the player to beat the mission a certain way.

Those of y’all who gave up on GTA 4 in the beginning, I’d suggest giving it another go :ehh:

I thought it was trash too but a few weeks maybe a month or 2 later decided to give it another chance and when you get past the beginning it’s a dope ass game :ehh:

Not sure I’d put it over 5, they might be about equal overall :ehh:

Speaking of, that’s wild how they still haven’t made GTA 4 available for systems after PS3 :mjtf:

Like almost unplayable to me

The simple reason - SLOW and choppy

I was a big gta head growing up but I never like 4 when it came out because the game physics were so slow, I only finished it because of the story

I’ve had gta5 on ps4 AND now ps5 pro and STILL can’t bring myself to finish it

GTA 1-3 were more cartoony but were fast paced and more action oriented, I feel like gta 4 started with the realism especially in driving and wasn’t as fun

I am struggling to dl and finish gta 5 before the new one comes out, am I crazy??

Maybe the series ain’t for me no more

nah its just you...:francis:

5 was whatever. All the way around. How yoylu have 3 main characters and they all mid. They were over the top with Trevor and didnt even really pull that off. All uninspiring

The city was sterile. The game is beautiful and hollow.

I can only see 6 being a lateral sequel to 5. Highly polished emptiness

The reputation series is living off the legend of San Andreas
