Queens as a borough is one of the last bastions of the "old" NYC...transplants had no reason to go up to hoods like Cambria Heights, Jamaica, Jackson Heights, Woodside, etc...so they've retained that authentic NYC feel. That may change in the next 10-20 yes, esp seeing how quickly LIC has developed.

The neighborhoods that people associate with "native whites" like Maspeth, Ridgewood, and Glendale now have large Latino immigrant populations (in additions to many Polish immigrants)

Not true. Samsung, H&M and soon MLB.com are already or will be in Jersey. The cheaper rent helps. Gentrification destroys everything even businesses

I know a few black families on my block that have own their homes for over 70 years. I live in East Elmhurst and it was one of the first neighborhoods that black people were even allowed to buy property. And it's the most stable neighborhood in NYC. Once you buy a house here you don't leave. The median move in date for home owners in 1976

Most of the large homes in East Elmhurst are owned by blacks and I think the AAs who live there are for the most part senior citizens. I could be wrong.

Doesn’t being an immigrant in NYC qualify you as a native? And I’m especially talking about immigrants who arrived here in the 90s and earlier.

No, I don't think that can be a thing. "Native" implies being born somewhere. I've met plenty of Caribbean and Dominican immigrants who are recent arrivals, anyway.

That whole chunk of Queens (along the 7 train) is mostly non black and was like this before gentrification as well. Most of Queens' black population lives East of the Van Wyck and South of Hillside Avenue

And I don't see this affecting too many black people. Most of us live in Southeast queens, and that's nowhere near LIC. Yuppies who work in LIC, ain't finna move to Rosedale and Cambria Heights.

Exactly. Rosedale and Cambria Heights are mostly comprised of black owned 1-2 family houses anyway, that's different from a neighborhood made of mostly apartment buildings.
