I agree kids need to learn to respect authority, but to get respect you must give respect and honestly that's what cops don't realize. Given the last 3 months do you think the kids might not hold a little resentment towards cops?
The issue here isn't that the kid didn't respect the cops, the issue is that the cops don't know how to measure out force.
Again, If i get your arm, and start whacking at it, your natural self preserving body movements are going to make you move that arm.
And again, regardless of whether or not the kid was resisting arrest the dude in the vest comes flying in without really understanding the situation and just start pummeling the kid. Had he come in, got some information, AND the kid continued to resist arrest THEN MAYBE, just MAYBE I could play devils advocate on this one, but to come in out of left field when the situation was already under control? It's wrong b, just wrong.
The kid was already pinned, already secure enough for the fat cop to pull out his cuffs, secure enough for the black lady cop to not feel the need to kick, punch or otherwise assault the kid and yet the camo cop starts escalating a situation without information?

The bottom line is, under current laws, you (effectively) don't have any rights on the streets when it comes to dealing with police. If you want to change that, it takes an organized effort and a movement - fighting with them at the scene won't do you any good and will fukk up your situation even more (or get you killed).

The vast majority of cops FULLY realize what force is necessary. That one cop coming outta nowhere was in the wrong, the three restraining the kid were not.

Respect is also earned. It's no an inalienable right. You aren't born with respect then lose it. You earn it then lose it.
That being said it's a 2 way street. The kids needed to give respect too. Which honestly it looks like the kid and the 3 other cops had sorta arrived at that point of things getting handled enough until super cop showed up.
NOW, cops have netted a loss of respect on this.

the average person has good experiences w/ police.
All these videos of cops you see where people complain is the police dealing w/ folks doing something wrong.
If you really want to avoid the police, mind your business and dont do dumb shyt.
and if you get caught, accept the L and fight it out in court.
like most of these big media issue...both sides bring their biases to the table.
On a site like this people like to forget what its like dealing w/ cats in the hood....it aint easy.
So imagine you having to deal w/ murders, rapist, drunk people, petty crime etc.... day in and day out...and whenever you deal w/ someone a random person pulls their phone out and says youre doing too much.

There's SOME, very little, but SOME truth to this. Cops do deal with some shyt, aren't really appreciated like they should be AND get paid pennies. Still doesn't give them the right to do the shyt you see in these videos AND if that weren't bad enough, when they get caught doing dirt NOTHING happens. I could almost say, "well at least the bad ones are getting culled from the police heard, but as these last few months have highlighted, that's just not the case.

They got black folks so confused you dont know whats up or down.
They play good cop bad cop w/ you all (with everyone though).
The liberals give you all these stats/polls to show you you are a victim and the odds are against you...and the people on the right come in the w/ the bad cop routine....

The only people I know that have had serious issues w/ the police were the ones that were in the street like that.
