How much longer until countries like the UK, Germany, Denmark, Sweeden, Canada, France, etc. become soclialist?

They've been where we want to be for a long time and haven't crossed that tipping point.
We don’t want to be where they are economically... so you must means socially? Which is an apples and oranges comparison.

More than likely you are cherry picking small parts of their economies and saying "lets do that" without acknowledging everything thats supporting it.
I wish it worked like that.

I am for healthcare block grants like Canada... If they can do it we can.
I am for abolishing the min wage like Sweden... If they can do it we can.
I am for going nuclear like France... If they can do it we can.
I am all for having net government debt close to zero like Denmark... if they can do it:mjlol:yeah right
:hubie:Not touching Brexit boys... they could have some hard times coming up.

Exactly. We can. And none of it makes us a socialist economy which is what your article is arguing against. Something that no one is advocating for.

Capitalism:
an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state

Socialism:
a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

America is a product of both. the problem is, right now the formula has a bit too much capitalism in it. we need to take some of that out and add a bit more socialism. that is literally all we need to do.

What has been happening for the past 40 or so years, is that the dem party has turned into the corporate aka capitalism party, the republicans for more time than that has been the capitalism party as well. so which party will help the people? neither.

this is why you need to add in more socialism into the recipe.

Capitalism is neither good nor bad. it has no conscious.
which is why if left unchecked or barely checked in the hands of selfish people. it will destroy the majority and make globs of money for a select few.

Socialism by definition is the more ethical of the two. it does have a conscious. but it too can go too far if you end up with the crazees over pushing for a system where it turns into communism. and you can end up with authoritarian leaders within said systems.

You probably a single figure with a 100% capitalistic system. but you would have a small group of people literally controlling everything. is that any better? NO.

you should want neither extreme. but do not allow the small group of capitalist overlords to make you believe if you want to add a little more socialism you are going to end up a communist one day. not true at all.

I disagree...
I believe the problems we are having stem from too much state intervention... because state intervention into the market is fundamentally flawed and will necessarily suffer from an economic calculation problem.

Why is every first world country on earth, but America, has socialist policies? If you hate regulation and socialism, why the highest standards of cars and products in the world, come from socialist countries? If you hate socialism so much, just wage war against each and every last one of them with America's bloated war budget :skip:

Oh yeah, cause you scared to speak ill against capitalism having a stranglehold in the last 1st world country on Earth, and heavy regulations in a socialist America means that uncharted capitalism would be reduced to a 3rd world dysfunctional system that would be permanently unpopular. :picard:

Dont half ass your message. If you hate socialism that much and now young Americans are demanding the quality of life in these countries, why not wage WAR against those European and East Asian nations? :sas1:

Don't stop there.....call them out on it :sas2:

Then you are letting the robber barons loose to exploit society even more than they currently are. The only people who want to go back to feudal systems, but with better plumbing, are the people who can afford it.

This isn't just about maths calculations. You can't make simple math calculations without taking into account the social and environmental cost.
That's what the government does. Business are only concerned about profit.

Coca cola , Monsanto, and Nestle are already running around like the mafia, to name a few, Facebook and Clearview are doing this in the digital space, and YOU don't think these things need regulation?

"The market" as a concept is fundamentally flawed, because it doesn't exist. :gucci:

At least not in the way libertarians describe it.

Looks like “socialism” is being rejected by the left in favor of the establishment. The young didn’t come out and vote like projected...
:sas1:

... and truth is people don’t want the quality of life in those countries. They just want healthcare.
