Bro some of the most math deficient people I know excelled in engineering. Just try your best; plus if you really want to be an engineer spend some time practicing. Math isn't all that hard bro.

Know what..im going to give it go. Ill find some math courses to take online for the summer and fall and ill enroll in January

edit= After looking at the class schedules for the school im applying to, it looks like ill have to do ME or EE, because their CivilE department doesnt offer many evening classes :(
Where should I go looking for a ME job?

Mechanical Engineering Jobs in Atlanta | EngineerJobs.com (you can change the city to where ever you stay)
NASA
Lockheed Martin
Car companies, NASCAR race teams
DuPont
NBA/NFL/MLB Stadiums..

I feel like ME has the most jobs out of all the disciplines..good luck fam

Sorry to keep spamming the thread, but I wanted yalls opinion on this school..Its called Excelsior College, its a non-profit regionally accredited school. They have online EET degrees accredited by the ABET Online Programs | ABET

It looks legit, and they offer good rates for vets. I did a search for it on Reddit, and of course those nerds on there didnt know what the hell they were talking about. They all think its like a DeVry or Uni. of Phoenix type of school.

They offer Nanotechnology, Power Systems and Electronics concentrations. Excelsior College | Bachelor's

I wanted to do Arizona State at first, but thats too damn expensive, and Old Dominion and North Dakota's online programs are not accredited by the ABET. The plan would be to finish my degree at Excelsior, then go to grad school at GA Tech..thoughts?

Any technologist program is gonna relegate you to stepchild status in the engineering job market. You won't be thought of as an engineer but as a technician. The effort just isn't worth it in the end for the MET program.

So if you get a MET, EET, CET, or NET degree, you wont be able to sit in on the exam to become a registered engineer for your state?

You can but the problem is the first job after you graduate. To get a PE have to pass the FE exam and work under another PE for 4 years. Good luck finding a technician job where a PE puts you under his wing when he has other EE,ME,CE graduates applying. Them technologist degrees limit your job application pool because companies prefer engineering degrees to technology degrees point blank.

That's the point tho. Engineering is taking theory and creating new products. Theory = math. If you take out the math; you're not an engineer just a technician.

Technicians are definitely valuable tho.

I got my BSEE from Morgan State. There was this technician that worked in the lab who I say helped me graduate more than any of the professors. In all my theory classes there were labs where you had to build shyt. Professors were useless when you had problems building but Mr. Andre, the tech, was the nikka to go to.

Good engineers help you design the right shyt; good technicians help you build the right shyt.

I wouldn't say that man. Many of the CET, MET (mechanical and manufacturing) and IET kats I have known were able to attain the 6 figure salaries (as engineers and engineering managers). shyt one kat I mentioned on here who is like a mentor to me is a director and got over 50 patients and he got a degree in EET (only has a BS degree).

If you are trying to get a PE then yes it is best to get a non technology engineering degree.

Most CETs, METs (mechanical and manufacturing) and IETs I have known don't even place the Techician part of the degree on their resume (which is also part of the tailoring your resume which makes up probably 60% of the work to get a job) and work right next to regular engineers and do the same jobs.

Once you get in corporate america often times getting these jobs are about experience, explaining in a detailed way on your resume what you have done, having a big name on your resume (which helps you stand out) and working high visibility/high money projects.

Man if I wasnt retarded in math I would enroll in an engineering program. I would pick CE because i've always had an interest in structures and the infrastructure of Atlanta and the Philippines after visiting there.

Yeah man that doesn't matter. I hated math and really enjoyed science as strange as that sounds. I was also stronger in science than I was in math.

It is all about just applying yourself and studying/repetition.

Thing is I can only find engineering technology degrees online. I have to do an online school because I work full time. I have been seeing that a technology degree isn't as good as a regular engineering degree.
