Alright so when the program 1st started you'd get a block schedule 2hr, 4r, and 8hr shifts,The delivery times are between 8am-midnight. At one point before amazon hired too many people folks were getting 40hrs+ a week bringing home anywhere from $1700+ or hell I seen a chick on the facebook group in austin pulling $2700+ a week.

Now the way the amazon system works is they select drivers at random to get pre-scheduled shifts. That means every thursday you find out if you were the following week guaranteed. Nobody is guaranteed to get scheduled cause its selected at random and if you don't get scheduled you have to play midnight madness.

Midnight madness is when extra shifts are available for that day. Basically at midnight amazon releases randoms shifts for the entire day at midnight through the flex app. The major issue with this is everybody in the entire city that is hired on are all trying to get these shifts if they didnt get prescheduled on thursday. Which means soon as 12:00am hits you have less than 5 seconds to attempt to grab a shift before none are available.

Now when I first started I was grabbing shifts like crazy on midnight madness and working 3 to 4 times a week making on average an extra $280-$500 a week(you get paid every week) with maybe 16hrs of "work". What I mean by "work" is that if you don't have a delivery you still get paid. It could be 10pm at night and you'll be waiting for a package to be ready while you are waiting in the warehouse. And if its 30 to 45mins before your shifts ends they'll let you go home early and you'll still get paid for the rest of your shift.

And don't forget the quicker you delivery the more likely you'll be able to earn a tip. The Flex app will tell you your potential earnings for that day its not always accurate because people can tip you whatever they want

Now in houston as most people know is huge as fukk. Ive only lived in houston for about almost 2yrs now and amazon flex helped me get very familiar with the city.
One thing I will say warning all other bruhs who live in houston. If you're going to do this job you're more than likely gonna need a EZ tag for the tollways. I cant count how many times I had to get on westpark toll or the beltway 8 to do several deliveries.

Luckily for me I have disabled vet plates on my car so I ride the tollways for free. But for regular drivers this could be a major turn off. I say this because the amazon flex app doesnt take into consideration alternative routes not requiring tollways.

And believe there were nights where I was delivering packages in cypress and then next thing I know my last delivery is in sugarland.
The app allows you to pick and choose which deliveries you want to do first... but the app does not automatically give you the quickest deliveries to do. you have to do that on your own.

After the second day of doing deliveries I realized who has money in this city . I can only recall delivering to maybe 2 black people in this entire city. Most of my deliveries are well off white, asian, middle eastern people. Ive had to deliver to gated communities from all over the city and the luxury some of the people live in is just breath taking. Im talking pulling up to houses with people driving lambos in the drive way or bentley's.

These MF'S are too lazy to drive to the corner store to get some damn water or toilet paper.:mindblown:

I have rang the doorbell and some of these white people can have you like:scust:

One time I made a delivery in cypress and this older white dude answered the door in nothing but a towel with a :jawalrus: look on his face.

I can only imagine what would have happened if I had been a woman delivering:snoop:

You serious? I have an old android laying around, but I'm not tryna put service on that shyt :scust:

:noah: my car a year to old. Had I joined last year I woulda been straight. How do you like doing uber breh?
It's a cool side hustle. You have make sure you are driving with incentives. That's at least 50 trips a week. I usually do 55-60 in 22-24 hrs a week.

Get a 2011 or later entry level luxury car and you can get Uber Select as well which pays 3x as much as UberX. I roll a 2012 Lexus ES 350.

How easy it is to sign up for uber? I know you need a TLC license but how long you have to wait until you get approved.

I think I might do amazon flex. I just deliver packages and don't have to deal with drunk or obnoxious passengers.
Easy. I signed up in mid March and it took 2 days to start rolling.

We're moving to an economy where a few major huge companies will do everything and hire contract workers (not full timers) to deliver services. :sadcam:
Uber and Airbnb are examples of service based companies where most of the liability and resources are put on the person contracting their services out. Because of this both of those companies have been able to expand globally exponentially over the last couple of years because they use YOUR existing assets (car/home) and don't owe you shyt in the way of benefits or severance. :francis:
Crazy thing is job prospects are so poor right now for many americans that they have no choice but to get hype over the prospect of making $20 a hour on short term contracts with companies like amazon. This + more robotics/automation will have shyt spooky in about another 20 yrs.

It's the new reality. Working for yourself. And if you know any better you better get on track. Not just delivery services but all types of companies are letting folks be contractors. Yes you have to eat medical and expenses but it's the cost of business. We need politicians to make the atmosphere better for these workers as far as taxes and med benefits but i suspect as more and more people get into it it's coming.

Unless you're a Dr. or in medicine somewhere then what is long term? I know people getting jobs or getting dumped from jobs every few years. No matter what the benefits etc are. I also know folks who have been contractors for over a decade working for themselves, getting it regardless of what the economy does.

Signed up just for the fukk of it. Maybe they'll have options available when I have days off. Anyways, I don't know what's been going on with the Amazon delivery drivers lately. I had a package delivered to the wrong house recently. Luckily the person was nice enough to bring it. And just earlier, my friend was telling me about this lady that lives in her complex. She works at the leasing office and this lady comes with a package from Amazon saying that it wasn't hers. She said the lady told her she chased down the Amazon driver and told him it wasn't her package and he told her to keep it. :what: can't trust these motherfukkers. They'll be quick to give your package to someone else.
