Before taxes and it was based on my "potential" income. That potential came about because I had a few checks with OT on them.

It's irrelevant. Sometimes relationships just don't work out. it doesn't matter if you planned the kid or not you can be put on CS just the same, and when you are things are going to get nasty because it's not fun to work hard for money and an ex you are no longer fond of gets to go out and spend it, because most likely all the money is not going to child. There will be plenty leftover for mommy to spend on herself.

Most women on the onset will always give the tagline "I know you are a good dude and would take care of your kid. I wouldn't want to be one of those women if we broke up and put you on child support etc.."
Then you break up, and everything changes. I was giving mines money every month after we broke up, my people told me to keep records, but me thinking things were cool, I was being ignorant about it, we almost got back together and then broke up again(check the worst things you have said to a girl thread). 3 months later she filed child support.
She had a lawyer and the whole 9 and everything. I didn't think I needed one, but boy was that a mistake. She lied and claim I hadn't helped her with anything, they hit me with $3000 in back child support, and wanted me to pay $800 a month. This was all in the back room with a mediator. I could accept that or take my chances with the judge, I took my chances with the judge because the mediator was totally bias, amplified by salary at the time with "projected OT" and hit me as hard as she could.
Went in front of judge, at that moment I was steaming, because I was basically being railroaded. Judge was more sensible though. She kept the $3000 back child support because I had no proof I was paying but chopped down the monthly payment into half and required I provide the healthcare coverage.
All in all I would suggest filing on yourself if you and the baby moms aren't together. I was going to file on myself but she seemed cool on the money I was giving her so I didn't think it was necessary. I was ignorant back then I know better now.
I went through that so none of you would have to. Heed the advice brehs.
They can refile every 3 years, I keep thinking mine will because my salary is 3x's what I was making before. But whenever we come across each other I try to look as modest as possible, even borrowing someone elses car to go so she doesn't think I'm ballin when she sees mine. In the meantime she has had another kid and has another dude on CS. Guess it has become a hustle for her.
records brehs!!! my kid is 6 now and from day one when i start giving [non-court ordered support] i write a check. in the beginning i went so far as to have a folder with a copy of the check with her endorsement. cause when it comes to that family court, you as the man are pretty much guilty until proven otherwise. i can count on one hand the amount of times in 6 years i ever gave significant money in cash and that was just because of timing issues. and i use the support calculator based on my income to make sure im paying in that same ballpark so if it ever came to court, the judge cant accuse me of trying to get over. i'm sure there are 1,000 others ways i can get fukked over but just trying to protect myself without having to obsess over it 24/7
my boy told me this story about his barber. he's waiting for a cut and the barber's baby mom walks in with the kid outta nowhere and wants him to cut lil man. keep in mind the barber supposedly pays child support. barber quotes the standard price for a cut. and baby moms gets heated. was he wrong?
to me, baby moms was wrong for just showing up and doing so during business hours. if you wanna come in early before other customers get there then cool. but now you interfering with dudes business which is helping to pay child support in the first place.

I have to wait till 19 here in Indiana. My twins will be that in 2018 as they are 13 now. I got my ex-wife pregnant young so I'm still going to be in my thirties when the brunt of my cs is done. Our youngest is six now so I still got time on that.
My fiance's ex-husband put himself on some shyt. Kid with my girl is 4, got another woman preggo, cheated on her and that kid is 2, is not with either. My nikka is paying about 2 stacks a month in cs and cs related shyt like child care. He works at the local steel mill and he was over the crib yesterday talking about he needs to work 56 hours a week to survive and how he don't go home sometimes so he can save gas. All I could do is
