Honestly, I think raps in a better spot than it's been in years...

Got newer artists like Cole, Kendrick, Wale, Krit, Nipsey

Got veterans that put out some sick albums last year in Life Is Good, F&L2, Jesus Piece, etc

Is it mid 90s rap? No... and it's never coming back... but regardless, there's good music coming out.

Charlemagne spoke on this recently, there was just a thread about it, but I'm too lazy to look
the fact that every one cites Cole as one of the most exciting artists is whats wrong with hip hop. Hes supposed to be carrying the torch yet he's not moving hip hop forward in any way.

When has J Cole ever EXCEEDED expectations? He underwhelmed on his debut, and barely met expectations on Born Sinner.

Dude is always "good enough". never spectacular or inspiring

I respect him, and on some level, its good for hip hop that he's selling records.. At least he's passionate about his music. he's not a next level artist though.

Hip Hop needs more artists like SGP that dont give a fukk.

Dude, if you are bored with rap than you better be bored with music in general...

Because, hip hop is the only genre doing anything, and I listen to music from ABBA to ZZ Top and even Africa and other parts of the world...

Hip Hop is the ONLY genre doing ANYTHING worth listening to...

If you don't agree, just admit that you ain't really about the hip hop life...Period.

Lol wtf do people want from this dude?

A lot of people have Born Sinner as album of the year this year.

His expectations were the next Nas. You know how hard that is to live up to? His first album was a little but of a let down, but he has two classic or near classic mixtapes under his belt.

How's he not a next level artist if he's getting respect from veterans and selling more than 90% of rappers out there?

Cole is one of the most hated on in the new wave of rappers and I can't quite figure it out.

Problem is HipHop at it's PEAK was a masculine, aggressive artform....It was clearly defined. There was cool and then there was corny, weak, lame.....

It's flipped. Now the corny dudes are considered cool and being highly feminized with speech and dress is considered masculine.

I listen to folks who have good stories or bars, but I WILL NEVER Acknowledge or enjoy some shyt that is corny and or feminine no matter how trendy it is to like that stuff now.

To each his own, but the nikkas I named that I don't listen to( except Kanye) are trash to me. Drake, Big Sean and Kendrick are trash to me and are the reason why rap music is so stale now. Their part of the reason why I never listen to the radio. You dudes on this forum tend to hype anything up these days. Most of the coli thinks MCHG is a classic.. Really? :snoop:

The only rapper I named that Is on my IPhonethat I can see being labeled trash, is meek.

My iPhone consists of:Joe Budden, Slaughterhouse, Some Joell Ortiz mixtapes, Meek, MMG, Wale, Ross and Banks.

My iPhone is probably more listenable than most of the coli's. :yeshrug:

Soon as u said Buddens and s laughter house it became unlistenable.

Brazillian Jazz and samba music majority on my iphone, but that's just the vibe I like to have with mostly women around me these days....My days of hanging around hardlegs and listening to HipHop all day and smoking blunts wit a bunch of nikkas is waaaay in my past and I'm glad.

Yall nikkaz jus gettin cynical

Uve wired yourself to no longer get excited from good popular music cuz u feel it insults som sort of intelligence u think u have

Music been real good

MCHG the whole anticipation for it..
That Control verse and all the drama it brought
Drake droppin all dat heat for the fck of it and his album third album coming out :ohlawd:
Kdot with GKMC and killin da features
Asap Rocky with that borderline classic :wow:
Miguel wit da the anthem of da Summer :dj2:
Chance da Rapper wit dat :ohlawd: ass mixtape

Like @StillNotSoft said..yall oversaturate yourselves by listening to too much music

I only give my ears to a couple of artists..I dnt give my ears to just any and every mixtape and album release

I have not listeened to Wale's album, or killah priest or Joey Badass' new sht

I dnt care to listen to all the new sht...

If ur music makes it to my ears and i fck wit it ull be on my radar..im not gonna go out of my way to oversaturate my ears

I have my couple of artists to look out for that i am a fan of and thats that..but ya like I said..if ur music somehow makes it to my ears and i like it aloot enough to check ur latest release then I'll do that...but again oversaturation is never good..So I can imagine why the-coli can have a real cynical view on music when they out listening to every and any release even the release of artists they dislike :heh:

U think Im gonna be listening to Nas' latest album if he dropped some new sht right now :childplease:

Popular Rap music = Club music (mindless, repetitive, oversexed)

If you are past the age where clubbing every other night and consuming ungodly amounts of alcohol and drugs are routine for you then you won't find much there. It will become aggressive again when the country gets a conservative back in the White House and all you swagged out house nikkas that identify with Obeezy realize the party's over.

yes. I have no desire to see anyone in concert. decipherable lyrics are few and far between. messageboard chatter is juvenile. twitter and instagram are responsible for allowing people to embarrass themselves. shyt is a joke.
