Anyone else hate that Joe Budden will be just remembered as media personality?

Funny how things go. Somewhere in the multiverse is another Joe that didnt beef with Hov and then compound his errors with every little step in order to become the prototypical net MC who spoke the real to depressed folk before striking it rich with a pod where he talks cash ish and downplays his penmanship skills.

Ever wonder how that Joe feels with all the trappings of success? Number 1 albums with a commercial tint, media trained responses and filtered comments etc... Funny how an L can be a W if you play it correct and how a dub can feel like hell if its means not being authentic.

Food for thought, scrape the plate.

Above the fray.
Never made his mark as an emcee, everything else he did overshadowed his recording career.

Was one of the first rappers to build an internet presence, though. He was way ahead of the curve.

Take away the extra curricular stuff and he's a guy with a breakout lead hit single, who flopped on Def Jam.

Joe made it in the industry and it's been if not over 20 year's

Several can touch his pen and he will go down in history for what he did for the hip hop podcast game. He's solidify and has legacy in this culture. Most can't say that.

Well since his rap career was, by most accounts, a failure, I’m sure he’d rather be remembered as one of the first, best, and most successful hip hop podcasters instead. Budden tried his hand at radio, this was always kind of his thing too, media talk type ish.

Yea Budden in my top 10…he probably has to forget his rap career for his own mental health. Bc what people have done is essentially gaslighted him as if he was trash. Bc they don’t like him personally. There’s a bunch of stuff that if I were him it would drive me up a wall:

1- ‘Internet fans’. He was quite literally the first and main rapper mocked for having fans online.

He was mocked for having fans on the internet

2- Mental health- ‘Before these nggas hit puberty, I was online talking like it’s just you and me’. Facts! :damn:Back when rap was still stuck on bravado and pretending to be perfect, this dude was emotionally raw. That’s now the norm.

3- The culture is now about ‘giving flowers’ and appreciating the past. If you ever had even 1 hot song you’re getting nostalgic love….oh but not Joe budden. His 1 hit is used to mock him…also it’s cool to like lesser know rappers: Early Griselda, Currensy, 38 Spesh…but when it’s budden it’s ‘lol pump it up’

4- Drake. This ngga dismantled Drake and nobody cared :russ: Pusha comes spills some tea and is etched into hip hop history :pachaha:(also see #2, drake’s super power early on was that budden-esque vulnerability)

Bonus- Ransom….wait. Wait wait wait. So RANSOM is now a respected OG and hip hop vet!?! Joe budden is trash but Ransom is a top tier spitter :laff: Budden used to toy with Ransom that’s his son

Man, think of everyone from that era, and what happened to THEM

and Joe must be grateful every single day for what happened

Better than being known as a one hit wonder with a cult fanbase. :manny:

I’ve been on the internet for about 25 years and the booth is the only place I’ve seen so many ppl who stan him…and I’m not talking about those who simply enjoy his music…you got folks who seem to get offended when folks aren’t in agreement with how highly they rate his music :lolbron:
