That 80's ABC hippity hop flow is dated...Dudes were before my time, and I never bothered to go back and discover them...

The only 80's rappers I mess with is KRS One...

Rakim, BD Kane, NWA, K G Rap and all those 80's legends, I dont mess with their music like that...

My hip hop legends started in the 90's...

I am not saying they are wack...

I am just saying why would I buy an AMC Pacer in 2012...

80's flows, lyrics and beats are dated

What music from 30 years ago ISNT dated ?? You dont think BDP is dated ?
90s lyrics and flows are dated too...If you dont like em or dont like the flows, beats, cadence from the 80s thats cool but it was not WACK when it came out everybody was rcokin that shyt...They paved the way for so many people its crazy to disrepsect them....

Then again i expect it from rap fans, worst fans of any genre...

I don't agree...

KRS One's music has stood the test of time for me...That's why I don't really pay attention to all those other 80's dudes...

Because, KRS One came out at the same time as them, but I like KRS One, but those other dudes' music just doesn't grab me...

I mean "9mm Goes Bang" was released in 1987 and the song still kicks donkey...

I just feel like KRS One could of came out in any era of hip hop and he would still be a legend...He had too much versatility with his flows, he could be intelligent and ignorant and still come off convincing, he had charisma on the beat, and that fake Jamaican Patois thing is :ohlawd:

KRS One is the GOAT of the 80's generation...

I don't know about op, but I will say most 80's shyt is just boring to me (outside of slick rick, bdk and krs)

I mean, even a dude that I love like G rap, I only like his shyt live and let die on. I listened to wanted dead or alive and alternated between :snooze: and

Run DMC was from a different era, they are one of my favorite groups but I understand if younger kids are not feeling it.

They were soild to me, I didn't love them or anything but compared to the other that were out at the same time (not many) they were on point. Their music didn't age well to me, but I got respect for what they did but to me LL Cool J > RUN DMC easily

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
the problem is comparing them to later artists. that's like saying jackie robinson wasn't that great compared to nikkas now... well no shyt. but nikkas wouldn't be anywhere if it wasn't for them.. and to keep it real, 99% of rappers never will see shows as big, sales as big or be the first anything

compare them to people who were out at the same time. who in their right mind would compare artists 5-10-15-20 years apart, when the younger artist most likely raps because of RUN DMC and also took their style and added on to it.

that'd be like me saying rakim wasn't that great.. he didn't do complex rhymes like Los who raps backwards and fowards... well no shyt he didn't.... he was too busy creating his own style that every artist after him built upon..
