blame the Reagan administration for ending the Fairness doctrine

FCC fairness doctrine - Wikipedia

Clinton got parts too.

Telecommunications Act of 1996. This allowed Sinclair Media to effectively buy 100s of radio and TV stations to spew the exact same shytty message.

It's a slippery slope in regulating what is said. Break up the conglomerates, but I don't agree with regulating their message.

News stations need to be responsible for what they put out period. Australia got fox news complete out the paint years ago. Fox literally starting riots hiding behind the “first amendment”
And meanwhile Fox Business News is putting shyt like this out today:

This guy gets it.
If Reagan and them didn't kill The Fairness Doctrine in 1987 then Fox News likely would've never become what it is today.
People don't watch TV anymore, bringing back the Fairness Doctrine wouldn't do anything but further radicalize the right in their "fake news" crusade. There's no one answer to this hole we've dug ourselves in, it's going to take something a lot more comprehensive than that and a cultural shift on how information is processed and shared person to person.

I don't see how this is a good thing.
Disinformation is bad yes of course, but you also get that from mainstream news and she is not referring to policing them I am sure.
And even if she does, it's just not how it going to end up.

CNN, Fox and MSNBC and CNBC will all be immune to any of this.

NOT a good idea!

It is a good thing and there is a reason why Fox News is banned in certain countries in Europe.

Its very simple. Any group that wants to list itself as a news organization is required to list its sources.

News is meant to be a form of education. Imagine going to school and your teacher is telling you that actually there weren't slaves and black people were paid well for their labor. If you ask the teacher says "people said that" and when you ask who they say "don't worry about it" would you trust that teacher?

If the statements and claims being made are not verifiable there should be consequences. Likewise with advertising. You can't come out with an ad saying "this product will cure your cancer" without providing ANY verifiable proof.

Cacs got whipped up into a frenzy talmbout some damn voter fraud with zero reliable sources to prove it.

Not simple at all breh. Many times, sources like to stay anonymous in fear of retaliation.
