This,

abolishing the fairness doctrine is what caused all this. Media used to be required to show both sides for every issue they reported on. forced people to weigh the arguments and come own their own conclusions. Now the media can just tell what conclusion they want to you to come to, and people are so attached to confirmation bias, that they pick and choose which news channels to watch based on which one tells them what they want to hear most.
