I doubt that is true of Manhattan. I think you see more of that in the outer boroughs in places that were trying to compete with the suburbs during the white flight era.
The postwar buildings are pretty boring looking to me and some of them are just garbage (like the Fedders stuff that's all over many poor neighborhoods). Although some of the towers I do like such as the River Park towers I believe they're called.
I have zero desire to have a balcony (I don't see myself using it for anything besides storing bicycles). If I lived in a centrally located part of NYC I would not have a car. I know some people love their cars even in neighborhoods where they're totally unnecessary but I can do without. I'm not one of those people who hates car users either though, it's one of those different strokes for different folks kind of things. I do wish people would stop buying so many SUVs, though.

As a Florida native I have no clue what some of the posts in this thread are about and probably never will.![]()
I travel for work a LOT and the biggest issue is with loud neighbors in apartments and/or hotels.
One of these days there will be blood.
At one point I had flashes of me throwing a neighbor off a balcony and just waiting for the police to come.
You better warn these people. I'm like Jules in Pulp Fiction, Superfly TNT, guns of the navarone....![]()
Breh above me in my first apartment was a DJ. We would lowkey have battles with our speaker systemsthat shyt was lowkey fun to me just cuz I got that work
Right now, I got some neighbors with chihuahuas on the 3rd floor, and they KEEP them out on the patio all the fukking time, and THEY LOSE THEIR EVER fukkING MIND ANYTIME SOMEONE WALKS pastI wanna kill them summbytches. I don't care if someone steps on their patio for a cig... somebody walking their dog and it has to take a shyt...

I’ve never been to a hotel where I can hear people in the next room or above me.
Apartment is fun when you first living yourself.
My first apartment, one of the female neighbours was very noisy while having sex, screaming the place down. I think she never knew everyone could hear, it was sexual frustrating during dry spells lol

I think having a condo as a separate pad that you can get away to sounds dope but I definitely prefer having a house with a yard
I am a caribbean breh tho so that definitely plays a part in my perception
It might be true for Manhattan also. Most of Manhattans newer buildings are for the most part high rises and I’m pretty sure every high rise apartment building in Manhattan that is modern has some sort of parking garage inside of it.
As for me I support all modes of transit but as I got older I hate shopping in manhattan so my car is useful for me to go shopping in Long Island and NJ malls.
I’m pretty old school too and do grocery shopping in bulk so I literally drive to the Trader Joe’s located in Woodhaven just because they have a parking garage lol.
Luckily I’m starting to shop less in bulk and only buying what I need for a week.
My experience with curry is that Caribbean people from trinidad snd Guyana usually can control the smell.
With Bengali and Pakistani people the smell stick like glue and can last for days.
There are days when you walk in my building and it’s as if you hit a brick wall at 100 mph with that smell.

You kno was good. These nikkas ain't cashin out. These nikkas are the type that be arguing with the landlord over the rent and be getting notices left and right. I stay having 6 months of rent money ready to go at ANYTIME. These nikkas left their mama house too early.

The sheer, real, tangible anger and frustration in this post right here...

6 months?
Holla at nikka when you got when you got 3yrs of rent money laying around. Then I'd be impressed. Better yet, don't gloat about having "rent" money at all nikka.
At to your original stupid ass post and to the fakkit that dapper you, none of that shyt you talking about has ANYTHING to do with an apartment being built before 2016 and everything to do with the quality and materials used to build the muthafukka clown ass nikka.
