I haven’t seen AN is quite some time. I need to revisit it.
can’t complain about the runtime it’s about the same as GoodFellas...obviously much differently paced

Beyond the opening scene, Saving Private Ryan was basically a Tom Hanks going to war flick.
Meanwhile, everything from the behind the scenes shyt all the way to the entire length of Apocalypse Now is a war in itself

You seen what war was doing to them dudes especially Martin Sheen who had no emotions because he was so deep in the shyt, it became a obsession to get Brando. This scene alone shyts all over SPR:
"Hey soldier....Do you know who's in command here"
"Yeah"

If we are talking realism, both have scenes that depict the warfare of the era but I would still place SPR over Apocalyse. Mainly because it stayed rooted in its bounds throughout. Apoc just got bizarre and unrealistic the closer you got to the end.

Might be a cop out answer. Apocalypse I think is the better overall movie, and sort of transcends the war film genre. Private Ryan I think is the better "traditional war film'"

Me too. Platoon might be my favorite film, period. I saw it way too early. 4th grade
