Stoopid Life
Long Story Short: I'm at the track this past Saturday hoping to see history as most of the race world had given California Chrome more of a chance than recent horses trying to win the Triple Crown.
At the bar having a conversation with a regular & we get into this drunken convo on horses, athletes & jockeys. He says to me, "Secretariat is a top ten athlete of all time."
I'm not as heavy as I once was at the track but I say I go about 50-100 times a year and I had to really think on it with the amount of training, etc.
I come home, see this ESPN article of top athletes of the past century... https://espn.go.com/sportscentury/athletes.html
Secretariat is #35 ahead of Big O, Mickey Mantle, OJ Simpson, Jack Dempsey, Bob Gibson, etc.
Simple question: Should a racing horse be considered an athlete or is even the thought of such just foolish to classify them with humans?
