People that master an art typically spend alot of time alone, away from people and have a greater degree of self awareness, self conciousness about them so while they're there talking to you, they are in another place in their mind and arent able to authentically appear equally engaged in conversations with you because you arent on the same level.

a few lines of my life

Just finished watching that 40 min video clip of Kanye West on The Breakfast Club

And just thought to myself, something I've had in my mind for a while... Genius' are socially awkward :ohhh:

Meaning like they

talk in spurts, with awkward pauses
talk louder than needed :pachaha:

Say innovative stuff that make people go :wtf:

Nas (Genius songwriter) seems like he's not involved in the conversation when on interviews

Kanye (Genius producer) talks louder than needed, can't seem to convey his thoughts verbally that well

Jay-Z (Genius songwriter and hit-maker) always has awkward facial expressions, that always lead to 30 page long threads on the Coli :russ:

My theory is while everyone is out partying or socializing with other people, the Genius' spend time on their craft, like 10 hrs a day, sometimes staying up till 3am perfecting their art
That leaves them with less opportunities to talk to more people, get acclimated to social norms, etc.

I don't mind it, as long as they keep making that classic music :ohlawd:, i'm good!

maybe Kanye...

But Nas and Jay far from socially awkward. why would you even say them..lol

With Nas, dude just seems like he's answered the same questions for damn near 20 years in interviews. He already knows what to expect. Jay is Jay.

perhaps the true musical genius michael jackson :rip: is a bona fide example of this

I guess when a brain is wired as a genuis, the normally "social" neurons get recruited elsewhere

also why academic results drop when the party life picks up :to:

Kanye reminds me John Carmack, they both make this humming sound at the end of a lot of their sentences. Their brains work a little different, so they develop quirks over time.

lmao you got these socially awkward nikkas gassed up thinkin they geniuses now :laff:

being a musical genius has more to do with how much time you put in practicing something and less about your social graces.

Kanye the kinda nikka that is happy to get up on a stage and perform for people, the average socially awkward nikka would be deathly afraid of that

I think it has less to do with being a genius and more to do with how much time you actually spend interacting with a variety of people, friend. If you have a job where you are constantly walking around talking to people face to face, over time your social graces with any random person will increase because of you have honed a very underrated people skill. If you spend most of your time in a dungeon contemplating how to make music sound a particular way and keep your circle small with no new friends no no nooooooo and little interaction with the average joe, your social skills will reflect that and may seem forced, arrogant or awkward.. You have tailored your social skills so you can only relate to specific types of people and anyone outside of that to the artist, just doesnt get you.

Im not gassing these friends, friend. Its just a different type of style based on the environment friends put themselves in.

I can prove this to. To any introvert in here. Make it a goal to say hello to people at your job and on the street. Dont let people walk past you without saying hello to them. At work, stop by random peoples desks and chop it up. You'll find the easier it is for you to speak to random people and you wont come across, socially awkward. Jay z a former crack dealer has probably had hours of experience necessary to master these gifts, knowing how to balance his demeanor to not offend or give anyone an idea of himself other then what he wants them to feel, while kanye, has spent more time indoors honing the craft of music and can only be one way, not having to check himself unless its to his benefit.

2 different styles, friends.
