I want you to imagine having an interview with some strangers asking you shyt that you either have been asked a million times,or some personal shyt that aint none of they business....then imagine the thought of things that you say in that interview getting back to mama:sadcam:,your kids,or ya girl:snoop:,or just millions of strangers that's gon judge no matter what u say

Especially if you somebody who just aint naturally friendly with everybody all the time that gotta be difficult. ANybody who can do what these dudes do I don't know if its fair to say they socially akward. Some of that shyt is just called media training:heh:

im generally friendly and outspoken, but put a mic in my face and tell me its going out to everybody in the world and im givin you the :wtb:,my mama and auntees aint bout to know how I really be thinkin nikka:russ:

I think it has less to do with being a genius and more to do with how much time you actually spend interacting with a variety of people, friend. If you have a job where you are constantly walking around talking to people face to face, over time your social graces with any random person will increase because of you have honed a very underrated people skill. If you spend most of your time in a dungeon contemplating how to make music sound a particular way and keep your circle small with no new friends no no nooooooo and little interaction with the average joe, your social skills will reflect that and may seem forced, arrogant or awkward.. You have tailored your social skills so you can only relate to specific types of people and anyone outside of that to the artist, just doesnt get you.

I don't doubt that scenario. My point is that social awkwardness doesn't equal = musical genius, or even a talented musician.

I think too often people relish in their social awkwardness and false arrogance because they think that's how a true genius musician is supposed to act, not realizing that by opening up and becoming better socially it can only help them and increase their opportunities.

Just like staying in the basement and keeping a small circle can help a musician bolster self confidence, it can also create a false reality where you can't take constructive criticism and believe EVERYTHING you do is amazing and end up being unable to work well with others, which is the case for most people like that.

Those people would not benefit from having that kind of personality because they don't have the natural skill to thrive without ever learning how to deal with others

Being socially awkward, conflicted, unstable etc. is a stigma placed on people who are geniuses. It's not true of all geniuses. I could be wrong, but I feel that Kanye is using that stigma and stereotype of geniuses as a gimmick to validate why he's a genius. The rants, the outfits, the outlandish statements, him not smiling in a lot of his more recent photos just seems like Kanye doing what he feels is provocative enough to be considered 'genius'. It doesn't seem natural. It just comes off as fake. At least to me it does. Kanye's always been arrogant and has made over the top statements, but recently he's turned it up exponentially. It seems like he wouldn't even bother doing if critics and his stans didn't hype up everything he does.

Well, introverts in general rather hone their craft and become close to perfection. Extroverts spend their time in the clubs/ social setting all the time, but have little discipline.

See the fact that u see this rap sht as some one dimensional perspective of lyricism is the reason why u make horrible trash music that nikkaz clown

There more to the craft than what u conclude to be "lyricism"

SO instead of talkin sht study from nikkaz like Jay and realize what still makes their music hot after all this time

or keep making trash music that is universally hated :manny:

C-Styles, you better heed to this advice and disregard it due to the typical indifference people give to advice that looks like criticism

I bet you're thinking, "what does he know?", how can 'he' give me advice? :usure:

its a terrible trait and i hate it. i tend to fall into that, though i'm nowhere near a musical genius and wouldnt call myself one even if i was. but ive noticed i'd rather spend time trying to get better than just out having pointless conversations with people that hold no importance in my life.

for years ive had people compare me to those artists who stay locked away until its time to be seen (Eminem also fits into this category) and i had no choice but to accept it. i wish i could be more social, and at times i can..but if im legit trying to put some music together, odds are my mind is preoccupied wherever i go..ESPECIALLY if its at a musical gathering because then im surrounded by essentially what im trying to create or exceed.

being socialy awkward doesnt mean musical or any type of genius..but we have to accept that people who are great at what they do tend to sacrifice some of the fun or social times to build on their craft. a QB like Michael Vick in his prime seems like he partied alot and got into alot of shyt, while someone like Peyton Manning seems like he hasnt left his living room in a decade.

ive read many stories on Killah Priest being a highly isolated character as well...listen to what that isolation created on the PWOWR album.

and at the same time, being isolate also leads to delusions and loss of sanity..so theres a thin line.

:camby:Kanye compared himself to Michaelangelo, Shakespere, Steve Jobs, Ralph Lauren, Jimi Hendrix and Tupac. If thats not enough to let you know he's a madman, he's compared himself to Jesus and even God Himself. Every genius is a little off, but he's having a psychotic break.

I agree with a lot of this, although I understand when I need to artfully present myself so that I can impose my business standards upon other likeminded people in my field. So at music events, I do network

i try my best..but like earlier stated in the thread i feel like i come off as fake and disingenuous because no matter what i'm still in my head calculating shyt.

i'll be out at a live show that im not even part of..but in my head im writing rhymes or coming up with ideas...being in the middle of all of that just keeps my juices flowing and sometimes i dont meet the social quotas that i'd like to
