Are people asking for too much now? I'm sorry but a $15 minimum wage is still too low...

Jobs like cashier, burger flipping, and grocery baggers are obviously not for kids anymore with all these old ass people I’m seeing there especially these days. Again there’s a real conversation that need to be had and I think we could have it if people would stop trolling and really have the conversation. You know damn well 30 an hour minimum ain’t happening, you better be glad 15 is even being considered. Talk about the cost of living vs the wage gap without trolling. This is why I hate Twitter.

Living life just to get by...Sounds fun:francis:
Get out your feelings, bytch nikka:mjgrin:.

Seriously though, I was wrong. The minimum wage should be enough that a single-person household should be able to live comfortably. When you're a single parent of two, then that's when you should maybe consider upgrading your field:francis:.

Also, the CoL needs to decrease nearly nationwide, or raising that wage wouldn't matter. $30/hr in Cali or NY or DC doesn't mean shyt when rent and utilities are still an arm and a leg, so $15 is going to need to be accompanied with large decreases in the CoL.

I personally feel that there should be a state mandated housing cap that's dependent on the size of the property, but that's just a shower thought.

This. My job stopped matching 401k, stopped tuition reimbursement and made a lot of people part time so they wouldn’t have to pay benefits. You make minimum wage $15 one day and a cartoon of eggs will be $5 the next day.
Y'all need to stop this bullshyt. Everything has gone up the last 30 yrs while wages haven't. The price of shyt is going up period.

Minimum wage should be floating with inflation, should be a simple concept. It can be reviewed every 6 months or year since it's understandable that companies would need time to plan.

I don’t know why people have a hard time understanding this. The top 1-5% don’t give a damn about how the other 95% live and long as they benefit from it. I’m a very small business owner and I am able to pay my employees $15-$20 an hour but I don’t have many employees. I also don’t make as much profit as I could but I’m also not doing all of the work I should.

I say that to say this. The top 1-5% will go automated in menial labor ASAP as soon as if no longer benefits them. And that’s not to say they aren’t going to go automated services anyway it’s just a matter of time. If you don’t have a skill set that benefits the top 1-5% or you aren’t on your way or a member of that echelon they aren’t here to benefit you.

I love the way this sounds on paper but without a bottom there is no top. For you to make $50 dollars an hour someone has to make minimum wage.

You can't just tell people to "level up and get skills". If everyone was to level up an get an engineering degree/skills it's no longer a 80-100k+ job. It becomes a 40-50k job.

I make over $15 and the job I do requires zero degrees or certificates

When I started this job I was making less than $15

Even at Wal Mart or wherever there are positions that pay a decent wage

So if your ass stays at the entry level for years then that's just who you are

That's not this country bruh, that's basic economics...

Not every business owner is Jeff fukking Bezos...

You jack up the minimum wage, business owners have to compensate by firing employees or jacking up prices to make ends meet...
True, but America tends to put money #1 ahead of most other countries. That's why here you're paying for healthcare here but as soon as you cross the border suddenly its feasible for universal healthcare. Financially, America is less forgiving to the average man than many other countries.

Your first statement shows you are too ill informed to have a conversation about this topic. White people told you that you have no way to create wealth for yourself, and you listened

I ain't letting no crackers hold me back, I'll be damned, if I stay broke

The older folks work there because they didn't save for retirement or it's their retirement job. They lived in way better times were everything was cheaper.

As I've said prior, a lot of people don't try moving up. I understand times are hard but what possible excuse could you have working retail or fast-food for 5, 10+ years? There's really no excuse.

Do folks have the skill to justify 100,000 salaries? Probably not.

So someone who designs the bridges we drive over everyday doesn't deserve $100k? :dahell: Toyota who design cars to last 15 years don't deserve $100k? What about if you get into a car accident come out without a scratch, do the designer no deserve $100k
