Soooo I just got negged for saying that a $30 minimum wage was absurd...the fukk?
And wages should depend on the state. $15 in Alabama is a three bedroom home in a decent neighborhood. Hell, you can live in a gated apartment complex with 3bd/2bath for $775 a month.
A single individual can get by with $12 there, which is what the minimum should be for (the minimum wage needed in order to live in that state.)

If the minimum wage kept up w/ inflation and productivity, it would be near $25/ Hour today
This is What Minimum Wage Would Be If It Kept Pace with Productivity - Center for Economic and Policy Research

When FDR instituted the minimum wage, it was supposed to be a living wage
"No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country
By ‘business’ I mean the whole of commerce as well as the whole of industry; by workers I mean all workers, the white collar class as well as the men in overalls; and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level — I mean the wages of decent living," - FDR

What is with this obsession with fast food workers?![]()
Then you would have defended slavery and Jim Crow, since injustices based on economics based on race and exploitation were once legal. No other developed country thinks like this.
CEO can cut corners, make an inferior product, and underpay employees slave wages as long as he gets paid.
God y’all are slow...For you dumbasses suggesting a minimum wage at 15 dollars an hour is still low. Whats the point of going to College and getting a job thats starts at 25 dollars an hour when you can just drop outta/barely graduate HS and get a minimum wage job for 20 dollars an hour?
It’s like some of you don’t even apply logic to the shyt y’all spew..
Nah, i do not really buy that. I remember hearing first hand and from other sources about people getting laid off and potentially having to train their Indian replacements if they wanted severance. Also saying their is not enough people that can not do I.T. work is something that higher up's at companies say but are mostly not true, and the reason they choose them is money. They are generally cheaper then U.S. based engineers that are worth a certain rate. I worked with H1-B's that were garbage and everyone knew it, but they were kept around because they were paying out much less to them then they were to us. Decades of layoffs and promoting H1-B's created somewhat of a self fulfilling prophecy that there was not enough domestic I.T. to hire, when it was people knowing what they were up against and decided to choose another profession.
I see them bagging for the cashier's all the time. They're gonna be paid 40K too right?![]()
Grown ass people shouldn't be trying to cover rent on minimum wage
That's for people in school and that type of thing
Grown people should be above entry level anyway. And if you only ha e the same skills as a high school kid then maybe you're not capable of having cars and houses

No, don't switch it up now.
You said cashiers should be teens or mentally handicapped.
Tell me where you've seen mentally handicapped people on the register.

A lot of y’all are STILL missing the point. It’s not about entry level or rent. Our standard of living should be raised across the board. Wealth inequality in this country is at mind boggling levels. Rich Americans and corporations are richer than ever before but yet wages have been stagnant or regressive. While the cost of living has INCREASED. This is due to president Reagan and deregulation of the free market. Americans didn’t live this way until the 80s
