Are people asking for too much now? I'm sorry but a $15 minimum wage is still too low...

Soooo I just got negged for saying that a $30 minimum wage was absurd...the fukk:skip:?

And wages should depend on the state. $15 in Alabama is a three bedroom home in a decent neighborhood. Hell, you can live in a gated apartment complex with 3bd/2bath for $775 a month.

A single individual can get by with $12 there, which is what the minimum should be for (the minimum wage needed in order to live in that state.)

Living life just to get by...Sounds fun:francis:

If the minimum wage kept up w/ inflation and productivity, it would be near $25/ Hour today

This is What Minimum Wage Would Be If It Kept Pace with Productivity - Center for Economic and Policy Research
HuffPost is now a part of Verizon Media

When FDR instituted the minimum wage, it was supposed to be a living wage

"No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country

By ‘business’ I mean the whole of commerce as well as the whole of industry; by workers I mean all workers, the white collar class as well as the men in overalls; and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level — I mean the wages of decent living," - FDR

So it should be roughly $25 and anybody saying anything lower is a fakkit basically:manny:

Then you would have defended slavery and Jim Crow, since injustices based on economics based on race and exploitation were once legal. No other developed country thinks like this.

CEO can cut corners, make an inferior product, and underpay employees slave wages as long as he gets paid.

Exactly.

Are we voting the correct people into local office, or saying no tangibles, no vote?

On the other hand, you can’t expect people to vote universally on anything, because every doesn’t have the same life circumstances.

For you dumbasses suggesting a minimum wage at 15 dollars an hour is still low. Whats the point of going to College and getting a job thats starts at 25 dollars an hour when you can just drop outta/barely graduate HS and get a minimum wage job for 20 dollars an hour?
God y’all are slow... :snoop: It’s like some of you don’t even apply logic to the shyt y’all spew..

Let’s add some logic to this.. what job do you think has the higher pay ceiling? People have been leaving college for a while now and making less than $20/hr with loads of student loan debt, do you think this deters or attract those barely getting by to take on huge debt, and the time requirements needed to get a college degree?

Oh and those same burger flippers(I really don’t get why y’all are stuck on them) that y’all don’t think should be earning a living wage, you do realize the only reason companies are able to get away with paying them such low wages is because you’re footing the bill for that shyt right?

I mean companies been using all this cheap debt the past decade to buy back stock and drive up the stock prices while creating crazy returns for shareholders and huge bonuses for CEOs while keeping wages low, but as soon as shyt goes south the government gives them a handout while they begin the layoffs.. but people at the bottom need a lil help because they’re drowning and y’all scream socialism :mjlol:

Nah, i do not really buy that. I remember hearing first hand and from other sources about people getting laid off and potentially having to train their Indian replacements if they wanted severance. Also saying their is not enough people that can not do I.T. work is something that higher up's at companies say but are mostly not true, and the reason they choose them is money. They are generally cheaper then U.S. based engineers that are worth a certain rate. I worked with H1-B's that were garbage and everyone knew it, but they were kept around because they were paying out much less to them then they were to us. Decades of layoffs and promoting H1-B's created somewhat of a self fulfilling prophecy that there was not enough domestic I.T. to hire, when it was people knowing what they were up against and decided to choose another profession.

I’m not even gonna pretend like there isn’t a payroll benefit to hiring H1Bs, and some companies don’t use scummy hiring practices so they can get cheaper labor, but let’s not act like the 85k H1Bs that get mostly ran through by Silicon Valley each year begins to satiate the need for good STEM workers. Everyone got stories about how trash H1Bs are... yeah.. FAANG companies like hiring trash workers... makes complete sense right? I mean, that’s why companies were relaxing qualifications for tech jobs right? Why do you think tech is one of the few fields where you can grab a 6 figure salary without a college education? Again.. the level of the work they put out is completely irrelevant if we don’t have enough qualified people put out this same level of trash work. Anecdotal evidence doesn’t make all H1Bs trash, I’ve had the opportunity to work with both amazing and horrible ones, just like I’ve worked with Americans who clearly benefitted from white privilege and nepotism and Americans who are excellent at their jobs.

Grown ass people shouldn't be trying to cover rent on minimum wage

That's for people in school and that type of thing

Grown people should be above entry level anyway. And if you only ha e the same skills as a high school kid then maybe you're not capable of having cars and houses

A lot of y’all are STILL missing the point. It’s not about entry level or rent. Our standard of living should be raised across the board. Wealth inequality in this country is at mind boggling levels. Rich Americans and corporations are richer than ever before but yet wages have been stagnant or regressive. While the cost of living has INCREASED. This is due to president Reagan and deregulation of the free market. Americans didn’t live this way until the 80s

I love the way this sounds on paper but without a bottom there is no top. For you to make $50 dollars an hour someone has to make minimum wage.

You can't just tell people to "level up and get skills". If everyone was to level up an get an engineering degree/skills it's no longer a 80-100k+ job. It becomes a 40-50k job.

No, don't switch it up now.

You said cashiers should be teens or mentally handicapped.

Tell me where you've seen mentally handicapped people on the register.

Okay you right they not cashier's. They baggers. Now explain to me why baggers at grocery stores should be making 40K:heh:

If you wanna fight the inequality then advocate for UBI and tax the big corporations that benefit from automation. Forcing small businesses to pay for wages that will put them under is dumb as hell. Small businesses are gonna get killed and these big corporations gonna have an even bigger monopoly.
