this is why I don't like eclectic & so-called eclectic groups. they position themselves to be void of all criticism. that's why most of those types of artists are usually overrated.
How would their name be a gimmick? You could literally say the same about NWA and Public Enemy. The music they made went hand in hand with the name and brand.

He specifically said OutKast and didn't single out Andre 3000. Besides, both members have an eclectic intergalacic funk soul child aesthetic to their music beginning with ATLiens. It's not gimmick. It's inspired by what they came up listening to (Parliament and Earth Wind & Fire). Big Boi even has an album coming out titled Soul Funk Crusader.

5. goodie mob - well theres a failed push to make them bigger, by the same people that propped up outkast in hindsight.
so that's 5 groups more overrated than the roots. I can prolly name a few more.
they get top 20 treatment, but theyre more of a top 40-50 group to me.
and I don't like their so-called classic debut at all.
plus they get that glory day group treatment as well.
