Are we finally ready to accept that rappers today are way richer than those in the 90s

And they were still worth millions. Think about that. They made millions. Master P was still a rapper and wasn't just some label head. Cube still made a lot of money off music.
The thread never said rappers from the 90s didnt make money. The thread said rappers now make more. Your post comes off as defensive for no reason at all

Neck ties and boxing gloves.
Depends on a lot of things.

shytty deals in the 90s, covoid fukking up touring, piracy, and one hitbwonders and ghostwriters being at an all time high.

Would really have an idea to about a decade from now.

A lot of new rappers got money right now but people like Wu, De La, etc. can literally tour anywhere in the world, 30 or more years after their debut.

So do new rappers at this point in their career have more money than a 90's rapper....at the same respective point? Probably yes.

Will they make the same amount of money, long term? Probably no.

Fred.
This nikka Lil Uzi is gonna be old as shyt performing XO Tour Life in some arena crowd surfing on some retired rockstar shyt in 30 years :dead:

Cardi B is gonna have a damn Vegas residency in 30 years :dead:

I don't have any evidence any of these dude aren't just spending money in massive debt.

It's WWWAAYYYY easy to front and create an illusion.

I'll judge in 20 years.

Sir Mix' is still eating off a song my age.

Again, I'll save my judgement for 20 years from now.

I don't even know how people are running with this as fact. I mean when you look at individual members of NWA did in the 90's. Individual members of Wu Tang and even individual members of Bone Thugs. Master P being worth $400 million in 1998/1999 off music. You look at what Birdman and his brother was doing with Cash Money. We haven't seen anything like that since.
They literally pulling this out of their ass. Has anyone seen ONE single contract? Do we know they getting 30-50k a night or are we believing their raps? Are nikkas stunting for IG or they really own all that stuff?

Nobody on here knows. What I do know is the labels were taking the majority of RECORD sales and touching NOTHING ELSE. You didn't even have to give up your publishing. People would do it for a bag, not knowing. But it wasn't a requirement. Any other money you made outside the recordings of your label album, was 100% yours. Then nikkas just made their own mixtapes, sold them themselves, and never gave the label shyt. Which is why they put the Feds on Drama.. Those dudes were making a killing.

Now the labels FORCE you to give up a piece of everything. Is it 10% or 80%... They don't fukking know, but talking like it's 5%. I know labels used to give 1 million for a video, 2 million for the second, and budgets that had nikkas recording in orchestra halls... These nikkas today gotta make a video with 20k AND pay it back AND have the label take a percent of the streaming of the same video AND a part of every time you perform it. Feature money, percentage. Get in a movie, percentage. Get a clothing deal, percentage.

Nah the shyt ain't that cut and dry... I'm sure some are and some aren't. But these dudes doing 30k a week are in the negative. I can assure you of that

Lol you can't see past the artist you grew up on.

Why the hell won't modern rappers be able to tour in 30 years.

In every era of music these guys have existed.
Cause they can't even tour 1 year later... Are we talking big artist vs big artist? Yea big artist can always tour.... my man said

"Can we finally accept that even mid popular rappers 42 Dugg and EST. Gee have alrwdy touched more paper than our favorite rappers from the 90s?"

No the fukk way 42 Dugg and EST are going to be touring in 2025, let alone 2055.. And you smoking rocks if you think either of them have touched money like "our favorite rappers from the 90s"

Do y'all know Jay Z is a rapper from the 90s

Yeah longevity is a different argument, I can't say. But if we go artists now and artists then, in general, artists now are making waaaay more money. Biggie in his doc was talking about getting 40 a show, this was in 1995 when Big was arguably at the height of his career. There's artists now that aren't 1/4th as popular as Biggie was then and getting more than that for shows. shyt there's bartenders and rappers baby mothers making 20k for walk throughs lol. We in a different era.
But if Biggie got 40k in 95, what was he getting in 96? or right before he died in 97?

If a new rapper is getting 80k, but the 360 got him missing 50%.... Then how he getting more money? Seriously... Where are y'all getting these numbers from these new rappers? Cause nikkas can SAY anything

OP pretty much says that your average rapper today makes more than most our favorite rapper's from the 90's. That's the problem. It is far more accurate to state that the average rapper today makes more than the average rapper from the 90's. That would be accurate.

Also the myth that there is more money in rap now than in the 90's needs to stop. Labels invested way more in rap in the 90's from videos to production to marketing and promotion. We won't see an era like that again.

Maybe access to more money but I don't think they're caking more or less.

Seems to me labels upped the budgets for urban genres, but dudes still getting fukked over just as much.
