no, not your respect :wow:

:beli:

but i don't mean like flows, it's just he sounds the same and shyt :manny: not a lot of his music has replay value, and it doesn't help that he's a corny dude overall just going by social media. he's just boring and doesn't do much for me

this probably my favorite wale verse, i really thought in 2011 with MMG Wale was hungry and getting to be really dope, but his albums and mixtapes have been so meh, no desire to listen to those shyts again really

Go listen to those 5 songs i posted then come back and let me know wasp please .

Wale lacks charisma and his music is boring. If you want to be a successful artist, you have to bring more than hot lyrics to be respected today. These are the areas that Wale needs to improve on.

Better delivery, clarity and enunciation.

Dude swallows his words...

I can't deal with his flow, his delivery never comes together with his production so it's hard for me to get into his music. Always "on top" of the beat, staggering over his lyrics. Ends up sounding robotic. I've tried to feel his shyt but it aint workin

Yeah...he's nice, but he can tend to get monotone and easy to tune out. Same problem that Banks has.

I posted this in the Big Sean thread and was wondering why Sean/Wale are seemingly WAY behind Drake/Kendrick/Cole at least in terms of sales. They all have put out good projects at this point and all have major co-signs. I don't think it has to do with rhyming at all since both can spit and realistically this generation doesn't give 2 shyts about lyrics.

I think it's because Wale (and Sean also) don't have a signature sound. He rapped over those uptempo GoGo beats on the come up, he rocked over those MMG trap beats on Ambition, and his singles have hit with those RnB joints. The first half of The Gifted was pretty cohesive, but then the second half goes back into the mix-mash of rocking over different styles.

When people listen to Drake/Kendrick/Cole, they get a soundtrack:

Drake - OVO Sound
Kendrick - Modern West Coast
J. Cole - Stripped down self production

When people listen to a Wale/Sean album they still get that "early 2000 marketing package" where there's always

- 1 Big Feature
- 1 Obvious Radio friendly track
- 2 RnB features that could be radio singles
- 2 Hard/Trap songs

and then the rest of the album is what they actually wanted to put out. Wale/Sean need to get out of that mode and find a signature sound or do an EP with one or two producers and realize people nowadays don't buy albums off singles/features, but they want a whole vibe/soundtrack for their life.

I was a Wale stan at one point.....His music Pre-MMG was just more enjoyable personally. I don't think Wale lacks charisma....Just check out how he stole the show and outshined Black Thought on Rising Up, No Hands or any of his Seinfield tapes. The charisma has always been there, he just doesn't always put it on display like he's capable of. Plus he raps in a conversational tone usually packed with abstract rhymes/metaphors that can turn people off. Wale also doesn't have the most convincing voice, so sometimes the lyrics don't hit you as hard as J Cole or Kendrick might would. Following the commercial formula hasn't always worked out well for him musically either. Imo, Wale is the most talented rapper poetically in the game, but he hasn't lived up to what I thought he would become. I remember when Wale would just hop on a beat and snap for like 4-5min straight...he barely does that anymore. I wanna see him go back to the sound he had before with The Go-Go shyt

I still fux with him tho....

He's dark and has dreads. Not the look that white people are comfortable with.
